That should be the only time blackouts take effect on Extra Innings, because local channels will still be televised.
Blackouts are actually based on who owns the broadcast rights for the local TV deals. An example is: I live in Tucson, AZ, roughly 400 miles from Petco, but can't get Padres games on EI or mlb.tv due to Cox (the cable company) having local broadcast rights for the Padres on Cox 4.

Honestly, it cost EI and mlb.tv a customer and is really a shortsighted move by MLB and the television companies. There really should be some "common sense" blackout rule. My suspicion is that in this day and age of huge media conglomerates you'll see more and more of this type of thing, to the point of games being blacked out thousands of miles away.

i think if they offered exclusive access to ONE team for $100, it'd sell like hotcakes. I don't care to see Houston playing San Diego - I only care to see the Indians since I live in Chicago and only get to see them when they play the sox.

I couldn't agree more, well except I'd like to see Houston v. SD and don't care to see the Indians.

Disagree.

While I'm an A's homer through and through, I watch every little bit of baseball that I can get my beady little eyes on.

It takes a special kind of arrogance for a sports league to intentionally make itself as inaccessible as possible. No professional sports league in North America takes its fans for granted as much as MLB.

Except the NBA and the NFL (seriously, NFL Network? What the hell was up with that?).

i wouldn't suggest them doing away with the full package, just add a team specific package for about half of the normal package
