This thread naming elite leagues should have been bumped instead. There's something for everyone in there.

I have to say the ABL (American Baseball League) is a very good nonfictional league. I used to be a part of it before I was banned but I enjoyed my time there and most of all like the reward point ideas because they kept me occupied throughout the day. Also they have a lot of very good owners and the league is very competitive. The commish is very active with the league and probably spends about 4-6 hours or maybe more everyday associated with the league, even though he's got college stuff to worry about too. It always has room for new members because there are owners, coaches, and created players.

Another good league i was in was the Elite Baseball Sim League. I also had a short stint in this league and it was very fun. It moves at a very fast pace which is unfortuantely why I had to quit, but still a very fun league.

I know HPBL is the best one i've ever been in, what a great experience it's been. Dedicated owners and by far the best commish i've seen in a very long, long time. A great sequel!

I have to agree. This was my first online league, and the best of the ones I've experienced, especially in fictional, non-financial leagues. The only reason I'm not in it now is due to a lack of time to play.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the DBLC. From looking at the league database, they are one of if not the longest running league based on current day rosters. They lasted until 2023 when they decided to start over again. I was in this league for several seasons back when it was the original DBLC. They just finished the 2008 season and still have a bunch of original owners. They have changed commishes several times, but as far as I know, all the old commishes are still part of the league.

I agree totally with your comments here. Just depends upon what you are interested in, and what you are looking for in a league. But most all leagues have something special that make them unique.

Sadly, back in March, we retired the CDBL file. We just did not seem to be having the fun we once had with the league, and we seem to have more openings that we needed to have at that time. So decided to start over with a fantasy draft that went an amazing 55 rounds! I think that draft took us a good three weeks to complete. We now call the league the Billy Chappel Baseball League. So far so good. We have had some up and down moments in the BCBL, but just started the 2008 season, with a very spirited off-season. We had 3 of the top 7 contracts signed in the league during the off-season, including a $174m contract, over six years to a Cuban pitcher named Herman Marquez. Marquez was one of the engine created players as you enter the off-season.

Here is our site...

Still a ton of owners left from the old CDBL days

The Elite Players League should be mentioned as well. I am the founder of the league, but Doug Timms is the current commissioner. The league has been around for over 1 year and we have over 300 registered members on the forum. The league averages over 60 posts per day and over 100,000 views per month.

Oh yeah...the league is a players league. We have 12 general managers, and everyone else runs at least 1 player.

As an original owner who's still with the league, I'll put the PFBL (www.takeyourbase.com) up there with the best. We're going on 4+ real time years and the current group of owners is as strong as we've ever had. We even survived a collusion incident which could have killed us but instead we came out stronger for it.

Gotta agree with Steve on this one! Started in 2002 by Brandon Clifton and now run by Carl Street, this has been a solid league from the getgo. All sixteen owners are active on the forums almost daily and trades and balance are a given. Ask Raderick..He just made the playoffs this season and he seems happy.

FOBL has 36 owners. I am pretty sure we could destroy any of these leagues in a free-for-all grecco-roman wrestling match or even a synchronized dance-off.

Plus we have a ridiculous number of menopausal groupies.

FOBL rules. I've been an outside observer for a while.

Also, check out the MBBA in my sig. Long running league, also featured in Chronicles of the Monty Brewster Baseball Association.

Heavy owner involvement makes the MBBA great, even as we struggle to figure out OOTP:2006.

The ATHL is still around, now in our 16th season. We've moved - http://athl-online.com - and are looking for three owners as we head into the new season. Check us out!
