Suggestion for the Online Leagues forums

Instead of creating a bunch more threads and clutter the forum, may I suggest that all leagues open one thread and use only that one thread to post openings.

That's all fine and dandy to do, but since I probably look for an owner an avg of 2-6 months apart, I don't know if it's necessary to do.

What exactly is your concern? Use my posts in here for example.

I don't have any concerns. I think that this forum can be a lot more cleaner if my idea is used. It's just an idea, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it either way.

Or maybe a couple subforums. One for league openings and one for online league problem's/questions.

I don't not (double negative on purpose) like the idea of sub forums for advertising league openings and looking for leagues (would you like one subforum for both or 1 for each?), but I'm not sure it's all that needed. I mean, you could categorize things 10 levels deep, but going through all those levels to get to the content probably wouldn't be worth it. This would only be 1 extra click, but is even that worth it? Is this forum that cluttered that it's difficult to get to the general threads from the advertising? I don't have a position on that either way, myself. I ask to see what the general consensus is.

I don't think the idea of one thread would at all work though as it would be dominated by leagues with active posters. Sure, threads that get lots of posts keep getting bumped to the top, but I think the problem of getting buried would be even worse in one thread. And where do you start reading from? You could read backwards, but that makes comprehension difficult at times. I would kind of like to see each league limit themselves to one thread per season, but I wouldn't want to make that something you have to abide by either.

Unfortunately, I don't think there are all that many strong opinions in this forum much anymore. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong.

I don't see the concern with this. If your league has a new opening, you just find your thread, edit the first post in the thread with information regarding your opening, and then bump the thread noting your league is looking for X amount of owners. If you or one of your owners bump it, it's just like now, where it goes to the top. It's all up to the commissioner to update their own thread with the correct information.

Something I think would help this forum a lot would be if the openings for 6.5 leagues were posted in the 6.5 forums. It wasn't bad at first, you'd see the occasional one here but now they have become numerous and a lot of the times it doesn't even say it's 6.5. You find that out after searching through the league web site.

This isn't a major problem, but it is a concern.

Your initial post sounded to me like you were asking everone to share the exact same thread for all league openings. I, too, would like to see leagues limit themselves to one thread, or at least one per season.

If you PM me these, I'll check them out myself and move them when I have time.

Did a guy with a 13 graphic 4 inch sig line just tell everyone else they need to clean up clutter?

My thoughts exactly.

Where is the 13 graphics thing coming from? I only see 8. And why does my sig have anything to do with this thread? If you want to discuss my sig, send me a PM. There are users here with much longer sigs.

I got your PM and moved the ones I could confirm right off. For the others that I asked for confirmation, I'll wait a day or two or three and if I'm not convinced they're for 2006 leagues I'll move them too. Thanks.

If anybody else wants to PM me about these in the future too, feel free.

What about the following for the posting of multiple threads for the same league. How about if you feel that it's spam then you send me a PM of the threads you'd like merged and if I agree, I'll do it. If someone posts an ad thread for their league and then a few days later posts about say some extraordinary event that just happened in their league or say they're asking for feedback on a proposed league rule, I don't think that's spam. If someone is posting multiple threads with basically the exact same content though while both are on the front page, I think that is spam though. Or say if someone is posting multiple threads with different content, but it's so trivial that you'd expect them to keep that kind of stuff to their own league's board, if multiple threads of that are on the first page, I'd call that spam too. Anyway, what is or isn't spam largely depends on the person, but I think most people will by and large agree on what is and isn't. Anyway, if nobody has any objections, I think we'll go with that.
