So, Griese's 84.9 (thru 8 seasons) is significantly higher than Grossman's 74.4 rating
Griese's 84.8 is better than:

Jim Kelly 84.39
Roger Staubach 83.4
Neil Lomax 82.7
Sonny Jurgensen 82.63
Len Dawson 82.56
Ken Anderson 81.9
Bernie Kosar 81.827
Danny White 81.7
Troy Aikman 81.6
Dave Krieg 81.50
Randall Cunningham 81.47
Boomer Esiason 81.1
Warren Moon 80.9
Jeff Hostetler 80.48
Bart Starr 80.47
Ken O'Brien 80.44
Jeff George 80.42
Fran Tarkenton 80.35
Dan Fouts 80.2
John Elway 79.9
Tony Eason 79.72
Chris Chandler 79.1
Phil Simms 78.5
Bert Jones 78.21
Johnny Unitas 78.20
Jim McMahon 78.18
Bobby Hebert 78.00
Jim Harbaugh 77.60
Joe Theismann 77.4
Bob Griese 77.14

He is significantly better than several Hall of Famers. I'm pretty sure that Neil Lomax, Dave Krieg, Ken O'Brien, Bobby Hebert and even Champaign Tony Eason are all lamenting how the Hall of Fame jobbed them. Heck, Johnny Unitas, Joe Theismann and Brian's daddy Bob are hardly better than Rex Grossman.

I've changed my mind. The Bears need a bona fide Hall of Famer behind center and Griese is better than most.

Vikes are whing about Rex talking smack, trying to rattle our young quarterback.

Sorry. I can't participate in this discussion anymore because the sheer idiocy of this statement caused me to bang my head off the wall with such force that I think I gave myself a concussion.

Just because I haven't devised the ideal metric for rating a quarterback does not mean that it's ok to use a completely flawed and utterly useless one. The absolute sillyass logic required to make that leap creates all kinds of frustrating problems for me.

This list absolutely proves my point. Thanks Professor.

Not much for Grossman today. Bears D is keeping them in this game.

Sunday, just another day
Happy Bears fans pass my way
Looking in their eyes
I see a back so slick
I never realized
you made me so happy, oh Cedric

That's right, I just parodied Manilow. Cedric Benson rules.

Boy, this game has me seriously rethinking my stance on Grossman. The Bears are running the ball fairly well today and Grossman has been Lousy. Just Lousy. The Bears are going to run away with the division and nab home field advantage, but I'm starting to suspect that they can be beaten by any of the other likely playoff teams...primarily because of Grossman. I'm more than willing to give him a generous benefit of the doubt, but if Brad Johnson hadn't handed the Bears the game with his 4 picks, Grossman seemed to be giving his best effort to give the game away.

I just don't know.

I was going to post something similar about Bernard Berrian, who doesn't seem all that interested in playing the ball ever.

Oh god, Hester is in at corner.

King Grossman clearly has lost that mojo he had and the begininng of the season. But is he really worse than Orton was last year?

IMO, Brian Griese has always been horrible and I have no reason to think he will all of a sudden turn into a legitimate player.

Stick with Grossman and pray he reverts back to his earlier form.

Grossman 16 INTs in 12 games this year.
Orton 13 INTs in 15 games last year.

I guess he is. Play Orton then.

There is no way I will consider Griese to be better than Orton.

I made a mistake. Grossman has 17 INTs. I thought he only had 2 today, but in fact, he had 3.

Griese might be a better option than Orton, at this point. He played well in preseason and has lifetime 63% completion rate.

Grossman's 6-19 34 yards and 3 INTs today are horrible numbers against the second to last worst passing defense in the NFL. He should have torn them up. Instead he played one of the worst games a Bears QB has EVER played.

Make the change, Lovie.

Play Orton. Griese has never impressed me in his three earlier jobs. He is the classic example of average. Orton on the other hand showed tremendous poise last year and dealt with a tough situation very well. I would love to see what Orton can do, mostly because I see Orton having a bigger future with the Bears than Griese, or Grossman after this last disaster.

I wonder where all of the Grossman apologists are hiding?

They were lucky to win this game. Minnesota had the ball twice as long as the Bears did.

True, but don't hold your breath for a QB change. After hearing Lovie's press conference, I see little chance that Grossman will get benched.

He stressed that the Bears play well with Grossman, won 10 games with im, they won the division with Grossman, and that there will be no change.

I get the idea of not changing a horse in mid race, especially if you won the division in week 13.
