Ahh the "Woody Paige" theory. Because something happened a few times in the last 40 years it's going to happen again. He picked Michigan State to beat Ohio State last week because MSU beat OSU when they were #1 in 73 and 98 lol.
Should I run over to my betting site and lay a ton of money on the Tigers?

No doubt, I was just teasing you guys. I think the Tigers have about as good of a chance as you can possibly have being down 3-1. |

Serious European Football question though. In the English Premiere League, who are the absolute best 2-3 squads year in and year out? I'm talking teams that would pretty much never get relegated, safe bets to be at the top almost every year.
Manchester United and Chelsea? Arsenal? I'm trying to "learn up" on my club soccer. |

Ok, and what are the odds of any of these teams getting relegated in the near future? Are these teams that have never been relegated? |

These days as well there's far more money in the game so the gap between rich and poor is increasing, even within one division. I can't see any of those teams getting relegated for a long while unless they have some kind of financial meltdown.

Or if they get caught up in illegal activities (bungs, for instance) like Juventus.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Premier...ague_champions 8.1 shows which clubs are in the top division, the year they were first in the top division and the first year of their current spell in the top division. Arsenal are longest, having been in the top flight continuously since 1919.

True, there's bound to be some corruption just waiting to be uncovered.

Now is the EPL the best league out there? Are there any other leagues that are top notch as well?
I'm sure these come off as really stupid questions (as this would be like someone asking me if Ohio State or Notre Dame or Michigan were decent historical college football programs).

In European football the big three leagues are England, Italy and Spain. Germany is probably slightly behind them and then France and Holland a bit lower. Then maybe Greece and Portugal. OF course many of the smaller leagues produce a lot of very good players, but the best ones tend to end up in the bigger leagues. Of the leagues the English Premier league is the richest, possibly due to the language being more universal and thus the product is more investable. Also the pace of games is usually a lot higher which can be more exciting for neutrals.
