I firmly believe that my one-time addiction to CIV3 helped me get not one but two raises at work a couple of years ago.

Since my wife was so fed up with my playing the game at all hours of the day, I went behind her back and bought a laptop that I kept at work. I would then get up super early to go to work and even stay a couple of hours afterward to play CIV3. Both my department and office managers were so impressed by my 'dedication' and hard work that they approved the raises for me. In reality I was doing a lot of overtime on actual work at that time, but I think always being at work before they were didn't hurt.

I've since grown weary of the CIV franchise and I just can't get into OOTP2006. So who knows when I'll get another raise.

The bulk of that nine hours was the one game day during the trade deadline when I was going through all the teams and seeing what I could line up such that I wound up with what I needed plus replacements for what I lost. It was the first time I had dealt with immediate trade feedback and I wanted to take advantage. I now click save after any important game or transaction. They weather has been autumn-like here in the Great White North and with lightning comes the occasion power failure.

Hmmm. I haven't "seen" Raidergoo around in a while. He's probably busy just like you are, scefalu. Maybe if he reads your post, he will realize that a little OOTP at 5AM is not incompatible with diaper changing and rocking the baby to sleep.

She's up three times a night, and the deal is that I handle the bottle prep and diaper change, then go back to sleep. Right now, it is 10 PM, 1 AM, and 4 AM. 10 PM is easy, 1 AM is not bad, and 4 AM is a stone cold killer.

I did look at my OTBL league this morning. Cantu is not hitting after 100 AB. Neither is Stephen Drew.

I feel for you. Ours daughter (we're still on number 1) is 5 months old, and she has been good in that she has only been waking up 1-2 times a night since she was about 1.5 months, at since 3 months it's rare that she's up more than once. But the one that has remained is that 4 AM diaper change. And she's taken to being extremely irritated, with increasingly strong kicks and punches, during that diaper change--this morning was a particularly rough one.

On topic: 5AM gaming awards -- OOTP 6 & 6.5, Evil Genius, Diablo 1 & 2, Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, Neverwinter Nights (sp modules).

Been there, done that. I would like to remind all of you young fathers (and mothers, if there are any here) that OOTPB can be played with one hand free and one eye open.

Almost all OOTP games have been 5AMers for me. Lately a MOD for Civ4 called Fall From Heaven 2 has been taking up all of my free time. It is truly amazing. Even better than vanilla Civ4.

I have a wife and two little girls (2 and 4), so I'm pretty much occupied all day, everyday. I get to play for the most part at night. I wouldn't have it any other way!

I have played many games with a pillow across my lap and one of our sons lying on the pillow. The child sleeps well, my wife sleeps well, and I get some time to enjoy the games. It's even better when you train the child to hold the bottle himself (or herself).

I am very familiar with your plight. My dear mother was a frequent disparager of my late night gaming activities over the years, and that seat has been graciously taken over by the lovely Mrs. ChuckkieB.

It's been quite some time since I have been completely mesmerized, hypnotized, and taken over by a game, but while I've only owned OOTP 2006 for for a few short days, I am already working on my excuse for Mrs. ChuckkieB when she realizes what is going on in her fine home under her nose.

I have been spared thus far of the "what the heck is wrong you, you're such a geek" speech because it just so happens that both of my kids (5 year old boy, 2 year old girl) have been sick and I have pulled late night infirmary duty, tending to their runny noses, coughs, and midnight bathroom runs. I have been running recon missions to and from my pc to the kids bedrooms, bathroom, and kitchen which have gone completely undetected thus far. If this keeps up, I will be in the clear for a few more days at least!
