This home plate umpire really is awful. I can already tell after looking at just two at bats that's he's really inconsistent. Has to be maddening for the pitchers.

I wonder what happened to that plan of tracking "K Zone" scores for umpires and basing assignments and postseason crew selections on it.

They still show the K Zone box and ball tracking, but you don't hear any talk about the umpires actually having to answer for it.

He did. I have to agree with him though, and they also need to come up with a stat for when a batter hits a ball in play that isn't caught by a fielder and he reaches base, such as a hit.
