A small thing would be to have RBI appear in the bottom of the boxscore along with 2B, 3B, HR.... I think this was in 6.5

I miss the PbP announcing when a new pitcher or fielder is inserted.

ootp 5 or season ticket 2003
you had a free agent monitor at the bottom of the main roster screen that i thought was useful and keeping track of who was going to be a free agent

Eliminate the delay between each batter when playing out games. This 1-2 second delay doubles the time it takes to play out a game in 2006 vs. 6.5

Edit: Sorry...this wasn't in 6.5. I just realized you only asked for 6.5 stuff, not new features. :-(
I have 3 requests that I did not see already. 1) The ability to import individual players from different years. 2) The ability to import teams from different years. 3) The ability to edit career stats when still in game setup. I think it could screw with league/team history stats if you try to edit the "game simmed" career stats, but what about at game setup...or basically the same criteria for saving a quickstart. I don't believe that anyone mentioned it yet, but player popularity. I found this to be a huge balancing factor in the game that prevented teams from constantly trading away their players without consequence. It added a whole new layer of strategy to roster building.

the Almanac. At least the storing of boxscores from any given game, any year if you chose to look. Always liked to go back a few years and see the line scores of the series that year, look a little closer at the last game ol' Mason pitched in, etc. . .

one thing I really miss are the pop-up dialog boxes that would appear from time-to-time. For example, when you cut a player from your roster the game would pop up a box that said, do you really want to release Denny Hocking? If you it yes it would say, "$450,000 will be added to your expenses" and you could hit OK or CANCEL.
I loved that as it did my math for me and I could decide if I really wanted to absorb that $ amount by cutting chumpy old Denny.

The stopping of a sim for a no hitter or 3HR game in progress. Also, the stopping of a sim to report that a player was ready to come off the DL.

Scouting reports that have text description of the player. With the new XML engine, we could come up with some really good ones that wouldn't sound stale like the ones in 6.5 did after a while.
You know, like "Smith is a top-notch starter on any club...blahblahblah" |

dola,
Marc, once you're done with the list, you should make multiple polls, kind of like a tournament. Have each poll include say 5 options. Then the top 2 winners of each go into a final poll. Or some such. One poll will be too unwieldy...

Lots of good stuff here...
This may be somewhere in the thread, if so, I missed it... but how about career records for ALL managers, not just "human" managers. This is an integral part of baseball history... managers even get into the H of F (how about that also... say... 25 years at an average of 80 wins a season = 2000 wins for H of F manager, if winning % is better than .500). Regarding "trade offers", I, for one, prefer the realism that the current process offers. Everyone here screams for realism (rain delays, pitcher warm-up, player ejection, etc), but then they turn around and scream to make it "easy" to load up thier team thru 15 minutes of trading. In the old OOTP 6, you could "offer" a player up for trade, and sometimes get back 20 or 30 "possibilities" for each team. way to easy and unrealistic. How about, as a compromise, you "offer" a player, and get one and only one email trade offer in return (which may also be thanks but no thanks). You still have the option to then "discuss" the trade with the other team. |
