American names from Mexico

I have the following players on my roster:

Joe Wolfe - Mexico
John Findley - Mexico
Tim Shackell - Mexico
Paul Clifton - Mexico

Obviously these are not the kind of names you'd see coming out of Mexico..

Not true.

Lots of Mexicans and other hispanics have very anglo-sounding names.

umm, I have 4 on one team. Not one, four. Could you give me an example of a Mexican ballplayer with an American name(or Anglo-sounding)?

Here is your answer. It's not a bug, it can be edited:

124,Mexico,Mexico,MEX,Mexican,4,4,1,80,0,20,,

that's from the nations file. The zero represents the nation of the second names set. and that 1 you see are the hispanic names. So, 20% of the names out of Mexico will be Anglo.

It probably should be lower. I'm sure there are lots of Anglos in Mexico, however they are likely expatriates and retirees and not up and coming baseball players.

It won't help you for this universe you have, but you can erase your 124 Mexico line and put this in its stead:

124,Mexico,Mexico,MEX,Mexican,4,4,1,99,0,1,,

Now, only 1 percent of the names will be Anglo. Or, if you prefer:

124,Mexico,Mexico,MEX,Mexican,4,4,1,100,

Which gives 100 percent Hispanic names.

I hope this helps.

great, thanks for the help.

Like you said, it should probably be lowered (in a future patch).

Arlie is right (and another kudos for that excellent post), but I have also put a note to update this in the file for the next patch.

However, even if you make the change Arlie mentioned, it won't affect your current game, as name data is loaded at the game's inception and used forever after. (A change for that has also been suggested...)

Moving this to Closed forum, thanks!
