Is this your first Mac?

Best of all you get to run the best OS on the market. Well designed and extremely stable. Welcome to the club.

Is Mac Preorder up and I'm just missing it, or is it not there yet?

Also, any mac tester care to give me a performance heads up on how my (minimum requirements) g4 powerbook will handle it?

The title is my message--just want to know where to look for the pre-order announcement . . . though I too would like to know how a G4 will handle the program.

According to the game guide, the G4 needs to be 1 GHz with 256 RAM.

Of course, that's the minimum...

I would guess it will be dog slow with only 256... it may run, though. OS X in general is much slower with 256 MB and even somewhat with 512.

So, I should be okay with 768, you think?

I have 768--and in the Virtual PC the program IS dog-slow; I'm wondering if I'll have better performance with the MAC program.

I've been testing on a 1.25 GHz G4 Powerbook with 512 RAM and while it's not blazing, it's reasonably fast, even with the full complement of default leagues.

Yeah, let me rephrase that actually. I will be quite surprised if it runs with 256 MB. OS X really needs more RAM than that by itself.

Greatly-interrupted-dola,

I have yet to run a large multi-season sim on the Powerbook, but I'll get that going tonight and report back.

1 Ghz really the minimum reqs?

Ouch... I hope RAM's more important to performance than CPU speed, because my 1 Ghz Powerlogix upgrade is not exactly blazing fast.

But then, I do have a gig and a half of RAM
