Thanks. I have no intention of stopping before the entire project is done, even if there are some lengthy delays like I had this past week. I've just been overly busy. However, I'm about to post the '23 WS results and I'll be working on the '24 rookies tonight.

1923 World Series

The Giants took the first lead in this World Series rematch when Waite Hoyt singled home Travis Jackson in the 2nd. Three innings later, they made it 2-0 whe Fred Merkle scored on a tough ground out to 2nd. With two outs in the bottom of that inning, 2B Steve Yerkes reached base on an error by fellow second baseman Buck Herzog. Pitcher Dutch Leonard kept the inning alive with a single, and Duffy Lewis double both runners home to tie the game. Larry Gardner then singled Lewis home but was thrown out at 2nd after Lewis scored. Boston expanded their lead in the 8th and won 4-2.

Game 1: New York 2 - Boston 4

The Giants once again scored first with two runs in the 4th off Joe Wood. Boston never got within 2 runs of the lead and fell 5-1. Ernie Shore allowed only one run despite giving up 10 hits.

Game 2: New York 5 - Boston 1

The Red Sox scored quickly with three 1st inning runs off Jeff Tesreau. New York scored two runs in the 3rd and two more in the 4th to take a 4-3 lead. They added another run in the 6th, but Boston tied the game at 5-5 in the 7th. The contest went to extra innings, and in the 11th, Babe Ruth hit a 2-out double and pinch runner Rube Kroh scored on a single by Tris Speaker. Tris stole second and scored on a double by Harry Hooper. New York led off the bottom of the inning with a single, but a 6-4-3 double play snuffed out any hope they had of tying the game.

Game 3: Boston 7 - New York 5

Boston took a 4-1 lead in the 3rd thanks to a homerun by Harry Hooper. New York narrowed the lead to 4-3 in the 6th, but Boston got one of those runs back in the 7th when Larry Gardner was allowed to score thanks to an error by SS Travis Jackson. With one out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the 8th, Jackson got some retribution by reaching base himself on an error, allowing Merkle to score. However, Earl Smith and Waite Hoyt both flied out to end the threat and leave the score 5-4. Then in the 9th, George Burns hit a 2-out double off Dutch Leonard, scoring both Buck Herzog from 2nd and Heinie Groh from 1st, winning the game for New York.

Game 4: Boston 5 - New York 6

The Giants scored 4 runs in the 1st, three of them on a Larry Doyle homerun. In the 3rd inning, Boston closed to within one run at 4-3. But New York scored two more runs in that same inning and another run in the 4th en route to a 8-5 win, giving the Giants a 3-2 series lead.

Game 5: Boston 5 - New York 8

Boston chipped away at Jeff Tesreau while Hugh Bedient allowed just 1 run off 9 hits, evening the series.

Game 6: New York 1 - Boston 3

What a slugfest - the highest scoring game in World Series history! New York scored two runs in the 2nd and three more in the 3rd, and hopeful Red Sox fans were deathly silent. Then Boston scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 3rd and a whopping seven runs in the 5th. They also scored 4 in the 7th and two in the 8th, four big innings that, with the help of some 1-run innings, added up to a 19-10 win.

Game 7: New York 10 - Boston 19

Winner, 4-3: Boston Red Sox, 5th Championship, 9th Pennant

New York Giants, 16th Pennant

And the obscenely rich get richer.

Nice additions for the A's as they try to get back on top.

And just what the Giants needed a slugging CF.

Some nice talent for the Pirates too.

This is one of the things I hoped to accomplish with this project... it's obvious the A's, Giants and Red Sox debuted a lot of talented players in this era.

And more to come!

At some point the Cards should get strong, then the Dodgers.

Is this a historical league on OOTP 6.5?

How do you get real people like that?

I'm kinda new, I haven't done anything besides a standard league, so I don't know much. Please bear with my questions.

You need download the Lahman database, or one of the modified databases available from the mods forum. These are free and allow you to import files and start in any historical season.

That really depends on what you're looking for. Lahman brings guys in in the year they debuted, there are others that make them available in their first full season. You'd need to read the details on each and decide what works for you.

Matt's been real busy in real life, but I'm sure as soon as things slow down for him he will bring this back to life.

This is a fascinating idea. Once this gets into more modern times it'll probably be the first dynasty in here I've ever consistently checked for updates every time I get on the forums.

1924 World Series

The Pirates roughed up Joe Bush, scoring 8 runs in 4 innings. CF Clyde Barnhart led off the 1st inning with a triple, and four batters later, Max Carey hit a 2-run triple en route to a 4-run inning. For the Pirates, Dazzy Vance allowed just 1 run and 6 hits in 9 innings.

Game 1: Philadelphia 1 - Pittsburgh 8

The A's managed 3 runs and 10 hits off Wilbur Cooper, but again their pitching failed them. Herb Pennock was lit up for 9 runs off 15 hits. Pirates 2B Jim Viox went 4-for-5.

Game 2: Philadelphia 3 - Pittsburgh 9

Returning home was sweet for the A's as they turned the tables on Pittsburgh. This time, Slim Harriss allowed just 4 hits and 1 run in a complete game win while the offense tagged Johnny Morrison for 8 runs and 17 hits. 37-year-old Eddie Collins and 35-year-old Joe Jackson combined to go 7-for-10.

Game 3: Pittsburgh 1 - Philadelphia 8

For the first time in the series, a game remained close after the early innings. The game was scoreless until Max Carey hit an RBI single with 2 outs in the 8th off Joe Bush. With 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, the A's faced going down 3 games to 1 when catcher Wally Schang hit a solo homerun off Dazzy Vance to tie the game. Then in the 10th, Frank Welch hit a pinch hit single, scoring pinch runner Charlie Grimm from 3rd to win the game for Philly.

Game 4: Pittsburgh 1 - Philadelphia 2

The Pirates took a 2-0 lead on Herb Pennock and the A's, but Philly tied the game in the 6th when Joe Jackson and Frank Welch hit back-to-back RBI singles. 3B Sammy Hale gave the A's a 4-2 lead with a 2-run single in the 7th. Pirates 1B Jewel Ens drove in a run with 2 outs in the 8th and 3B Tony Boeckel tied the game with a RBI single in the 9th. But in the bottom of the 9th, Jimmy Dykes and Wally Schang led off with 2 singles. Stuffy McInnins bunted them over, and after a walk to Al Simmons, Sammy Hale singled home the winning run.

Game 5: Pittsburgh 4 - Philadelphia 5

Both teams scored early and often in this game. The A's took a quick 3-0 lead, but the Pirates tied it in the 2nd. The A's then went up 5-3 in the 3rd, but the Pirates scored 4 runs in the same inning. They added another run in the 4th and went on to win 8-6, tying the series at 3 games a piece.

Game 6: Philadelphia 6 - Pittsburgh 8

The Pirates led 1-0 for 5 innings, but in the 6th, Philly took a 2-1 lead. The A's scored twice in the 8th and 9th innings to seal a 6-1 victory and claim their 8th World Championship.

Game 7: Philadelphia 6 - Pittsburgh 1

Winner, 4-3: Philadelphia Athletics, 8th Championship, 13th Pennant

Pittsburgh Pirates, 7th Pennant
