6.5a Patch and Player Popularity

Well, the 6.5a Patch has been released and player popularity still cannot be edited. This was the main feature that I was interested in for 6.5. I like the idea very much of player popularity having an impact on fan interest, but I do not want to rely on the cpu to get the numbers right.

Combine this with the importing players bugs and these issues make 6.5 a no-go for me.

On the plus side, 6.12 worked fine and has provided me thousands of hours of fun. 6.5 was only ten dollars and it will have to remain a noble experiment that sits on the hard drive for now.

I don't recall it ever being mentioned it would be able to be edited.

Editing Player Popularity

Why allow someone to edit every other thing about a player except that? It is completely arbitrary and makes no sense for a single player game. It seems like a simple change to allow editing for this in single player and leave it how it is in online games.

Plus, I'm sure I'm not the only one who was surprised and disappointed by this aspect.

Well, Markus said the rating is determined by a formula based on a number of factors that change over time, so when they change, obviously it will change. Even if you could edit it, it would later change. I guess what he could do is make an option to have it static though. That way you could edit it and it would stay to what you edited it as. I would like to see him do the same with the other intangibles, make an option for them to be static/editable or dynamic. (Well actually, I don't really care whether they're able to still be static, I just want them to be able to be dynamic.) Intangibles, especially ones that have a strong affect on the game intentionally or not, should not be static. It's only common sense that they would change over time and it would provide for a tougher challenge for those GMs that largely draft players based off of them.
