OOTP-Wiki?

Would anyone be willing to host an OOTP-Wiki? The software is open source, so it's just a question of hosting. This community is so strong and active, I can see that quickly becoming a valuable resource. Think of the possibilities...
  1. A manual that can be as in-depth as the community wants. The existing manual is a good starting point, but there's a lot of knowledge about OOTP in this community that should be documented and shared
  2. A list of online leagues. I know theasfl has been doing a great service by collecting and posting this info so far, but wouldn't it be great if anyone could maintain this information?
  3. A knowledgebase of FAQs and walkthroughs for everything from commishing an online league to setting up and running a historical solo league
  4. A collection of all of the many studies and findings of the OOTP forums members

TotalEnd's is more of an Off-Topic Wiki. It doesn't really cover the game, though I guess we could just combine them.

I'd be willing to host it. Grab me on AIM (gordyhulten) or MSN (gordyhulten AT gmail_DOT_com).

Edit: Maybe not. Looking over the instructions, it looks a little over my head. Anybody willing to help? How much experience/knowledge is needed?

Great idea. There was a post ages ago on how to expand a league and how to deal with franchise moves.

A run through on the best ways to set-up an historical sim would be most appreciated. Including some of the best add-ons (with how-tos) to provide the best experience.

Well, when I asked him in the thread at that first link he said he intended it for on-topic too. There's nothing stopping it from becoming more on-topic. The only thing it really needs past more content is a good index page to direct people to various sections.

This IS a great idea. In the past, I'd advocated manuals with context-sensitive help related links that would point to related threads in this forum. But what with the many interrelated subjects as well as those duplicated with variant names it makes that a bit more problematic. Still, an ideal setting, or as best I can imagine it would involve a key subject matter with related trees available wherein you could prune until your specific interest was satisfied.

A more sophisticated and comprehensive search function here, with much narrower possibilities still remains THE resource for an OOTP knowledge base. I can't count the number of times I've reset the thread dates to Show All from the Beginning and began to wander through the archives to revisit an issue I was examining. The collective here remains the one outstanding hall of evaluations and opinions that I ultimately trust.

This should be combined with TotalEnd's. It is silly to have 2.

I agree. TE's is already up and running, all it needs is for people to go there and start putting in On-Topic stuff.

Yep, the work's already been done to set it up. Now we just have to work to add information to make it useful. Once a few folks start using it, it should snowball into something very valuable...

Bump we should get this going again, update it, you know. I think it would be pretty sweet to build this thing up and include as many things as necessary.
