actually...i ended up getting the last laugh on zito. he wouldn't sign with me and ended up going to someone else. so, naturally, i just traded for him...apparently they don't have no-trade clauses in the ootp4 contracts. he may not be happy...but he won 22 games for me this season. sucker.
unfortunately, mulder is not as good (in the game) as zito...and i put a premium on my starting staff. otherwise i could have avoided the entire mess altogether. |

... you're on the phone with a client and totally forget what you were saying because you're thinking about that homerun your closer gave up to cost you latest game you managed...

...You start getting creative and make a team of misfits, freaks and criminals and then realize that there already IS a team like that, the Texas Rangers, and you scrap the whole project.

You know you've played too much OOTP when
...you sim game seven of the World Series and watch through your fingers. ...the off-season takes longer than the season ...you honestly can't remember if Rafael Santana was a real player or not. ...you are genuinely happy when you beat a pitcher who left your team because he didn't "like your organization". ("How do you like it now, you jerk?") ...you follow the in-game scoreboard. ...while watching MLB games, you make comments to your wife like, "this guy hit 44 homers for me last season". ...you write a letter to Sammy Sosa warning him that his production is going to disappear when he's thirty-seven and he'll be out of the game at forty, but his son is going to be rookie of the year in 2024.

...you create yourself, then draft yourself on your own team, offer yourself a huge contract, which you accept, then you trade yourself away because you don't think you're as productive as you should be.

...you watch a closer blow a save and say to your buddy, "They should have brought in Bookie Banks", and your buddy says, "Who the hell is Bookie Banks?"

...your team's needs get more attention than your wife's needs.
...you spends hours re-coloring logos, AND THINK IT'S WORTH IT. ...at the beginning of each new season you make the phantom motion of "throwing out the first ball". ...you use a graphics program to create lustrous paper "plaques" for your Hall of Famers. ...you get mad when someone says, "It's just a game". ...you slam the desk so hard after losing a ballgame that the computer reboots itself. ...you've read this far on this thread.

...you smash your car with a deer while doing 45 and you're upset because you know it's going to be at least an hour before you get home to the postseason.
