Chien
At the last draft that me and my friends held (long time ago), my friend drafted a poor rated prospect called "James Chien". In french, "Chien" means "dog", so...
That player was a bitch... |

Claver Carrion: a 1.5-star pitching prospect in the Dodgers organization. Definitely a future garbage-timer.
Walker Dames: Has a control rating of 5/100, although he's allowed only 14 BB in 57 innings in A-ball this year. It's unknown how many of those hitters were female. Bud Gentleman: a marginal, 18-year-old center field prospect in the Orioles organization. Known as a peacemaker. Juan Kiss: Often distracted in the field mumbling the lyrics to Britney Spears songs, which might explain his mediocre .947 fielding percentage at second base. Jimmy "Punchy" Shiner (nickname given by the game): a five-star pitching prospect in the Red Sox organization, known for beanballs leading to bench-clearing brawls. Actually only hits 6 batters per 550 AB, but when he does, a black eye almost almost results. |

My Keystone League has had a couple great nicknames already, and it's only in its first season:
Larry "Iron Curtain" Portwood: This one is even better because the Keystone League began in 1960, when there was still such a thing as the Iron Curtain. I suppose he imposes totalitarian control on opposing hitters. Wilfredo "Mr. Miracle" Cortada: This one has to be my favorite game-generated nickname yet. He's a slugging third baseman, 6'2", 220 pounds. I'm picturing him as a fan favorite with a big grin. James "Hard Way" Kilgore: This one is just too cool. When I was creating Negro League rookies for The Base Ball Life of Patrick O'Farrell, I began by generating players and editing them. I got a James James and a Rodrigo Rodriguez that way.

The starting pitcher for the opposing team in my solo franchise is a 37 year old righty named Numbers Hight.
