Why the hell is everyone so negative??

I'm not saying people don't have the right to criticize, but my god!!! People are so adverse to change and something new that they are just going nuts. This is/will be a far better game than the old OOTP versions. If you're so hung up on them...go play them and please let those who enjoy a much more detailed model do just that. I've never seen such fear of the unknown. Why does everyone think this was going to be more like older versions rather than a new one? This should not be coming as a shock to anyone who has been paying attention over the last 2 years. I for one think this version is going to be a quantum leap over the older ones, but those of you who don't, you still have an option. It's called OTTP 6.5...there's your customization.

Well....that's not going to be very profitable, will it?

I started an initial draft, had the sixth pick in the draft, found out that star ratings were no longer included and shut it off. It was pretty, though.

My initial thinking, is that is not going to be online friendly. How are people going to just jump into an existing league. They are going to be so far behind, in knowledge, it will make it very hard to get new owners, in the future. A lot of online league guys, do this for fun.....not endurance.

I must admit though, OOTP'ers, you guys complain about the simplest things. You blow the FM and EHM'ers out of the water. Congrats.

(I'm now...somewhat, so I don't have much to complain about.)

Well, let's not lose sight that all-in-all (please God don't let me jinx this) the responses have been relatively tame with some minor exceptions. In addition the responses TO those responses have also been in kind. Good start.

On the other hand, people are busy playing, making mental notes, taking physical notes, uttering a verbal exchange or two that we're not privy to, throwing things, and least of all -- not all the loudest voices are here. Yet. Nonetheless, dialogue is occuring where and when it can. Let's count our blessings.

Zen: Seek first to understand and only then, to be understood.

What I don't get is why we can't bring up a single issue without getting flamed. Are you trying to tell me that this game is the only absolutely perfect object in the entire known universe? Are you trying to tell me that it is, without exception, entirely void of any flaws what-so-ever?? There is absolutely NO WAY TO EVER IMPROVE UPON THIS?!?!?? Is that what you're saying? If that's not the case, then let us bring up our issues in peace, because, ultimately, we're all hoping for the same thing: an ideal product for enthusiasts and serious gamers alike. Wait, let me speak only for myself. I would like to see certain issues, which are not HUGE or obscenely difficult to fix, addressed. THAT"S ALL!! You can have your cake and eat it too, but I can't?? Weeellllllll, that sounds all too fair to me!

I've been playing (and PAYING FOR) this series for as long as most, so am I not entitled to enjoy its next incarnation as much as YOU? If this game is SO frickin' F-U-N to play, then what in the hell are you doing on this board?!?!?!? That just defies explanation. If this game is as you say it is (the Second Coming?), then you should be huddled in front of your computer, shut away from all other life, everything that could come between you and your stream-lined flawless sim for all eternity like that old cat played by Burgis Meredith in the Twilight Zone, totally unconcerned with the affairs of men. And their rotten Bulletin Complaint Boards.

I'm just getting the feeling people would rather have a dumbed down version of a baseball sim.

Amen Foreman Fan....
The Fan boys jump to flame anyone that doesn't praise the game. instead of realizing that by talking about things we don't like, it will hopefully allow Markus to make this game even better

"People" have time, money and emotions invested in OOTP. Mostly time and emotions.

For someone like me who has been simming baseball games for over thirty years OOTP was the greatest game to ever come along. However it had its flaws - that at least for me I was hoping would be ironed out in future editions.

For the past two years all we have had was a small expansion and a lot of speculation - today it became very clear that the game has changed directions. At least for me, this turn has been a disappointing one - things I would like to see changed or fixed have not and others that were not "broken" have been "fixed"

Having said all that - today is day one, adjusting to the new game, along with patches and 3rd party enhacements may improve the game or it may not - but while you may not understand the negatively, I equally do not understand the blind allegiance shown by some.

Yes I believe in Markus and I will probably buy anything he ever releases, however that doesn't mean I won't have a critical eye on something that for me personally is very important.

I was wondering the same thing. I mean, I get it. But...boy, the tone I sensed was generally whiny.

I am not a a fanboy, and regularly criticize OOTP where I think it may need it. But most of you here aven't even gven this version a fair shot, and it seems the only thing you are really interested in, is anything that almost identically resembles the old versions.

Well you can get that feeling all you want while playing your untainted sim, away from us whiners and pissers and moaners. Leave us be to wallow in our own misery, self-loathing and self-pity. But, please, by all means enjoy yourself while doing so.

the problem is for almost every new cool thing added, there's one that's been taken away

Funny....what I've been reading today is a lot of fanboy comments to any complaints to the changes.
