Congratulations, winners!

Here in Boston, the Curse of the Bambino continues. We've never put SP Babe Ruth on our 26-man roster, which surely explains why we've never won a World Series. We do have an OL crown from a few seasons back, though, so the Curse seems a bit more forgiving than its real-life counterpart was.

I will give you some unsolicited advice. And it’s worth what you’re paying for it!

I would be willing to lay down good money that Willie Mays will appear as a franchise hero mission reward for San Francisco. I think there’s going to be three franchise hero missions and again if I had to guess I would suspect he will be in franchise hero set three because I really can’t think of anyone else from the Giants who would qualify more as a franchise hero than Willie.

There’s two ways you can approach Willie when he shows up. One, you can buy him off the auction house. He will be over priced right when he comes out of course. The other approach would be to complete the San Francisco missions that are out now and keep completing them until Willie comes out as a reward. If you do that then when he appears the incremental cost of getting him should be pretty low.

I’m sure you have completed the live mission for San Francisco. Then all you need to add is the perfect Juan Marichal card (which relatively speaking won’t be that hard to complete, and is actually pretty useful), and then the team mission for the Giants. Completing those three missions would get you the Willie McCovey card. And again he’s at least semi-useful at first base!

The other thing I would do, if I were taking this route, would be to collect any SF silver/gold/diamonds that I could find. Especially ones that are not currently in missions, because those are going to be the cards that will be added to missions next (so you can get them cheaper right now before everyone is dashing after them). This step requires a little guesswork but honestly there aren’t that many extra cards to worry about so I’m willing to bet most every card that is a Giants player will be eventually involved in a mission.

I am confident that collecting the cards this way will be cheaper than waiting for them to come out and trying to collect them. And I suspect the end cost of getting Willie Mays will be cheaper this way also. Plus it gives you something to do while you’re waiting!

I am doing something similar in that I am pretty sure someday there will be a Walter Johnson reward for a senators mission. So I’m collecting all of the senators cards I can so that when the mission comes out all I’ll have to do is turn it in! I only hope the card isn’t terrible!

Thanks for the advice. I agree that it's becoming more and more obvious that Willie Mays will show up pretty late and as a some sort of reward thing. I understand they didn't want the flood of multiple cards for each player, but I think the game could live with two versions of certain cards. Then again, I guess the powers that be at OOTP are running a business and see their strategy this year as contributing to their model.

I may take a look at what you suggest. I'm guessing I am close to some of the paths you mention, given how many players popped into the Mundys' minor league system when I submitted the collections I had completed. I have three 99's and a 100 Trammel down at AAA. Perhaps this weekend, I'll take a look.

Reporting for Stone will probably be sporadic this week, not because of this reporter's schedule, but because of the league schedule and placement of the four OL teams. They are WIDELY spaced and it remains to be seen if any will have 10 OL games.

I don't know if you've checked since league play has started, because the schedules frequently change. For example, this morning when I posted the B233 layout at 6:45 a.m. the Mundys had no OL games in April or September, but in checking today after work, they now have three games in April and I think 29 OL games overall. This morning it was at about 20. Also, Inland Empire, the other lonely outpost, went from about the same to where they have more than 30, I believe.

So, if you haven't checked after 10 a.m., there's a decent chance that things have changed. Of course, it could also be for the worse.

At least it will be interesting to see Lemp Ave. and Nowhere do battle, after they didn't play each other last week. But I'm always a bit upset when any team doesn't have enough OL games. I hope Annandale kick some butt.

I share your frustration at the operation of the Friends List, but I wouldn't look for any change. I think what we've got is all we'll get. Since its addition to PT, I have, on at least 10 occasions, offered suggestions/wishes for improvements. I have yet to have one of my posts even acknowledged as having been read, let alone being commented on..

It was a pure guess that the schedule would be too light for a title. As it turns out, it was a bad guess. All four teams will have just enough games.

I could do with a week at a spa...

My logo always sorts itself out if I just leave it and come back later. I tried clearing the cache, but the 10 logos that were missing at that point are still missing... Maybe those 10 just haven't logged in yet?

not looking good for any of us so far except...

Annandale who is SMASHING the competition.

what's the name of that spa??

It seems to me that the Devs take on board a lot of comments without broadcasting it. Kris has said many times that they're open to feedback, so I assume that our voices are heard at least. Though, it would be cool to get some official words on the friend list subject. I guess that a lot of stuff gets discussed on Discord, and maybe doesn't make it to the forums.

After what you said yesterday about checking schedules, I had another look at Annandale's this morning. Look who popped up .

Mundys are Early Leaders in OL B233

Port Ruppert swept its only series against Left Coast for the percentage lead, but Cleveland got off to the most prolific start.

Gold league:

Cedar Rapids undefeated in OL play to sit atop the standings. The Mad Brewers appeared to make a near-full tour through the OL teams, playing everyone except Cedar Rapids and Waffletown; and the Syrups have yet to see any OL action.

random fyi for anyone around... apparently still slots available in the PTCS tourney for the Gold tier... last bunch of these filled up quick, so surprising there is still some spots open.... signups closing at noon est, so just under an hour to nab a spot as long as they last or until the top of the hour

haven't messed with the gold tourneys yet, but figure I can try to toss a team together and see what happens....

Posting this only because it may not ever happen again, LOL. My three teams in PT at the moment...

Gettysburg 21-15 (First) 1/2 game lead
Cleveland 27-10 (First) 7 game lead
Baltimore 21-17 (First) 3 1/2 game lead

(sipping champagne...)

Annandale just completed a complex series of player transactions and ended up acquiring Jackie Robinson, who will start at shortstop for the Atom Smashers.

From all the packs I've been pulling I had completed approximately half of each of the 3 Negro League missions, so I was able to finish the missions one-by-one, sell each reward card as I acquired it, and use those PP to complete the next mission. I finished the outfielders mission yesterday and put Oscar Charleston up on the AH, where he sold this morning.

The profit number below depend completely on how lucky you've been in pack pulls (for example, I have Cool Papa Bell and so the cost to acquire him is not included below) but as it turns out, completing the 3 missions (and selling the rewards) netted me 110k PP and the Jackie Robinson card. So that worked out really well.

Port Ruppert Holds Onto OL B233 Lead

The Mundys ran their OL win streak to eight before falling to Route 66 and kept the top spot, as the race widened. Cleveland slipped to third, getting swept by Inland Empire in their only three OL games in May. Those Wranglers streaked into the race with an 8-2 mark.South Holland won four-of-five, while Gettysburg moved into second by staying on the sidelines.

As Annandale continue to smash stuff in the league, Cary built a firm lead in the OL race.

The dust is still settling, so hopefully things will pick up for the teams that are struggling a bit, though I'm fairly certain that won't be the case for (rubbish)Pax(luck)ville!

I have no answer as to how Annandale has been doing so well. Have only made teeny tiny changes to them in the past week.

I like to think I'm not superstitious but I completed the FH1 mission to get Ken Caminiti, who was a favorite player of mine - he was on many of my baseball sim teams in the late 80s when I was in some online OOTP leagues so I get the warm fuzzies thinking of him. Prior to getting him, I was all about replacing Jimmy Collins with him. And now that I have the card, Collins is playing like a demon (12 HR in 48 games for instance) so I feel like he has earned the right to keep playing!

Well, I said I hoped you kicked some butt, and that hasn't changed - even though that now includes Paxville's butt being kicked!!
