It bothered me in the beginning as well EC for the first years release.. but then I saw more of what they were releasing and read about the different meanings and the entire idea has grown on me.

As long as the team's post what days they wear the city connects I can avoid those games. Most of them I find quite unappealing, but it's not just that...

I don't go to Chicago to celebrate Chicago, it's history and traditions. I go to see the Cubs. Same for the Twins or any other team. I'm not there to celebrate their city, I'm there for MLB baseball and, at the prices they charge, want to see those brands, ie uniforms-logos. Perhaps if I lived close enough to take in several games per year I wouldn't care. But for me it's a major expense to go to a game, the ticket is the cheapest part of the excursion, and we buy good seats. IE you don't drive 8 hours to sit in a nosebleed section. Throw in food and a couple beers at the game , gas, hotels, eating out on the town and it's a chunk of change.

I don't know what other teams do but I believe the Cubs, at least last year, would only wear city connects for Friday games. Knowing that it's easy for me to avoid, and having that information is fair enough.

I don’t like the Cubs CC mostly because Wrigleyville is awful but there at least it’s very clear what it’s there for. It’s not really for the tourists tbh, both the Cubs and White Sox represent the part of the city they’re associated with: north side vs south side. It’s weird because the Sox have long had issues with attendance, have a notoriously cheap owner, and have tried to move several times, but I’m not sure any team connects with a borough of the city more than the Sox do with the South Side. Maaaaaaybe the Yankees and the Bronx but I think they’re a much broader constituency. Certainly the Dodgers before they moved to LA.

Loyalty to any one sports team is pretty hard to justify, because the players are always changing, the team can move to another city. You're actually rooting for the clothes, when you get right down to it. You know what I mean? You are standing and cheering and yelling for your clothes to beat the clothes from another city. Fans will be so in love with a player, but if he goes to another team, they boo him. This is the same human being in a different shirt; they hate him now. Boo! Different shirt! Boo!

I started watching Premiere League football (soccer) from the UK around 2006. There is a league where you definitely cheer for the shirt. It took about two seasons to get used to the player transfer market.

Yes, the brand, shirt, clothes, whatever you want to call it is what you cheer for.

As a Cardinals fan, I was a little spoiled in that respect with Yadier Molina and Adam Wainwright spending their entire MLB careers in one city

This is also my philosophy. It's why I refuse to watch games on holidays when the entire league wears the same damn hats and, in the past, jerseys. I want to see the teams in their colors. I have nothing against raising money for charities (though I find that probably most of this money from Mother's Day, Father's Day, Memorial Day, etc., gear still goes to MLB and its teams). But put flags, signs, banners, whatever throughout the stadium. Leave the uniform alone. It's purely done because somebody will plop down money for a white Cardinals cap.

I've been going to Houston almost annually since the 1970s. I have nothing against Houston, but I have no great love for it, either. It's a means to an end because my favorite team happens to play there and is the closest team in this sport to where I live. There is a restaurant and a bar or two I frequent every time I go, I loved Astroworld as a kid, and I love the Buc-ees in Baytown, right outside of Houston. But I go to Houston to see the Astros. I don't go see the Astros because I want to go to Houston. I'm neutral on the Texans or Rockets or the old Oilers because I already have teams in those sports.

The Astros wear theirs on Mondays. I differ on my feelings for City Connect versus the league-wide holiday gear. I'm fine with the Astros City Connect uniform. I like the look. It taps into the color schemes of the present and the past. I wouldn't be upset if one day the Astros CC cap logo with the H with the hollow star and the orbit around it became the primary logo. But I like the current everyday uniform, especially the cap, which is largely a throwback.

I don't like some of the other CC uniforms. Not a fan of the Red Sox looking like UCLA. And regardless of why the Reds chose black, it looks terrible to me, in part because the city name and numbers are borderline illegible, and in part because it's black for a team whose primary color is red.

But to each his own. If the people of Cincinnati swarm to it and buy it up in droves, more power to them. I understand why the Red Sox chose their colors for CC, and it wasn't made for me. It was made for Red Sox fans and the people of Boston. If they like it, that's what's important.

If teams are going to simply declare that whatever color they want is fine and it's just a look to the future, then I propose that all of the teams should just use all of the color combinations available all the time. For every game.

This will certainly bring excitement to the fans as they will have no idea from day to day what their team or the opponent will be wearing on any given day. This might take a few decades to accomplish, but I'm sure everyone can agree that once this gets rolling there will be no stopping the future leaning aspects of colorrama uniforms.

The Reds shouldn't be the only team that gets to wear red. Every team should get that privilege.
The White Sox in Orange? Yes!!

The Blue Jays in Purple and Gold? Oh! Yes!!

Irma Gerd! The Yankees in Yellow!

Just my tongue in cheek thoughts for the day...

Indeed!

Now on to the jerseys, pants, socks, cleats, gloves, belts, armbands, helmets, donuts, bats, bases, shades, pitching rubber, plate, rosin bags, and perhaps the mascots too.

What did I miss?

The Phillie Phanatic in powder blue anyone?

It isn't my favorite of the CC sets. But considering the Reds have been very traditional and have just floated around with red pinstripes for...ever, I respect that they took a big swing. The "Turn Ahead the Clock" jerseys would have probably been way more popular if they had looked more like this, than The Jetsons on qaaludes.
