As Mr. Pelican said, the Cardinals are better than they look(ed).

MLB as it should be

If it were up to me, this is how MLB would look. Conferences instead of AL and NL. Notice the divisions that make sense geographically. Canadians and Mexicans have their well-deserved slots. Also fixed is the nonsense of more than one team per city. No favorites; in my world, NY, Chi, and LA have one fictional team each.

Since when are the Yankees looking up at the Orioles in the standings?

I am afraid there is some justification for this situation.

Seattle is underrepresented for pitching. They’ve got 4 guys in the top 10 in WAR right now. This may be how it goes (though I’d swap out Miller in favor of Castillo) but it should be said…

They're doing great, no doubt, but what site are you looking at? None are in the top 10 for rWAR and 2 are for fWAR. And which do you prefer?

Maybe it’s changed in the last week then?

Wait, no, it’s still Kirby, Gilbert, and Castillo, with Miller not making it because he hasn’t played enough to qualify:

Heh. What happened to the Cards after that LA series? I think this is called “regression to the mean” by the statheads. Again, it is entirely possible they could win in a weak division. Only to get thumped in the playoffs again. But the balanced schedule is making life hard.

Ah, and your link is just looking at the AL whereas looked at NL and AL. Makes sense since you were talking about the ASG.

I hope Dodgers fans got up early for an 8:30am PT start because their game in Tampa is 7-7 in the third

I lived in California as a kid, from 1963-1971. I thought all baseball games started at ten am. Good news is that games were over long before 1 pm, and the rest of the day was open. Saturdays, only, for TV games.

This was after TWIB, or "This week, in BASEBALL!" Best. Show. Ever.

I have made it in life. I have seen TWO baseball games ending 11-10 in ONE day.

Shoot me. Someone just shoot me.

8th inning, and the Freaking Kansas City Royals are throwing a perfect game against the Cardinals.

Contreras and Arenado are a combined one for their last sixty.

Edit to add...Arenado and Contreras both got a hit. Immediately. Contreras broke an 0-27 skid.

If you're watching the Padres, you might want to know where you can do so from today.

And per Wikipedia:

Quote:
on May 30, Diamond let a grace period expire that resulted from a missed rights payment to the Padres one week earlier. It led to Diamond advising the Padres that the company "decided not to provide additional funding to the San Diego RSN that would enable it to make the rights payment to the San Diego Padres during the grace period." As a result, the Padres May 30 game at the Miami Marlins would be the team's last broadcast on Bally Sports San Diego

This next month should be interesting. I wonder if Diamond Sports Group still has the cash to keep paying their broadcast crews and production people.
