Likely a lack of pitching staff issue but yeah 67 starts is a bit much

I'd agree. Even Cy Young tapped out at 49, but I wonder how many games were played by this guy's team. I mean, if it was around 154 then yeah, it was too much, but if it was around 200, maybe not. I looked up the 1914 Colonial League and teams were playing about 100 games though and the pitcher who pitched the most games was Bill Haley with 43. So yeah, your guy pitched way too much.

It’s high but weirdly not as highly high as you’d think given the 100ish game schedule. A glance at teams says most used something like a 3 man rotation with an occasional “change” pitcher. So no, not 67 starts but there are guys with close to 40 games and 300 IP even with the shortened schedule.
