That was the initial goal, but the team has been focusing on stabilizing and solidifying the rest of the release. We'll have more information about the Drive for the Pennant mode and the Hall of Fame section when we are ready to release them.

Will there be a patch where I won't have to shut off my anti-virus to play the game??
I was instructed to "whitelist" OOTP25 in order for it not to crash. I don't want to shut off anti-virus ! What if I forget to turn it back on? I run McAfee.

If you forget to turn McAfee back on, the primary consequence will be that your computer will run better.

McAfee isn't a particularly good antivirus nowadays, but at least it can coexist with OOTP in theory, unlike Avast/AVG.

This isn't something that would be fixed in a patch as it's not a problem with the game, rather with the anti-virus being overly aggressive.

You shouldn't need to turn off the anti-virus though, to whitelist OOTP you would just add it to the list of programs in the anti-virus that are viewed as trusted. That's what whitelisting is.

Really—two weeks was your “goal”? Did that seem very practical? You know, since every single year their are months of addressing bugs, including those which even a mediocre pre-release play-testing commitment would identify, and it is obvious nothing significantly different than in past years was practiced this time?

I don’t think you are so obtuse that you could believe that. Which leaves the only explanation for you saying it is that this sentiment is unrequited and you think that we are dupes.

While I was interested in this new feature, the “coming soon” timeline couldn’t possibly have been read by anyone with more than a goldfish’s memory as anything but Sales Campaign Talk 101. So, no actual harm done beyond the implicit initial insult of the transparently self-serving release note (dis)information and the subsequent doubling-down on it by giving your reply above.

Don’t worry, though. OOTP is well on its way to having a base exclusively comprising those for whom insulted intelligence is not a potential concern.

The whole friggin' world is about to blow up, and you get your panties in a twist over this delay?

I have a question, though: what the heck is Drive for the Pennant? Does anybody know?

This is all I could find via Google:

AN ALL-NEW MODE – DRIVE FOR THE PENNANT!
Jump right into Out of the Park Baseball in an all-new game mode Drive for the Pennant! Take the reins of your favorite MLB club at the start of the 2024 season and make key decisions at focused key points during the campaign. Execute important choices at crucial times! Maybe you’ll be at the receiving end of a season-altering trade request. Other times you’ll be transported to the manager’s seat in the last inning of a no-hitter, or bring you in to make a key pitching decision late in a game. Ride the roller coaster of the MLB season in a fun, streamlined, and exciting new way never before seen in OOTP!
So I guess it's a "skip the boring stuff" mode? I like going through a season day by day though.

It sounds similar to The Show’s March to October.

I don’t see the point of this in OOTP. One can play a season in a day if they wanted to.

Quite the opposite, actually. As I stated, this was not a surprising development in any manner. Rather, it is the scenario so obviously foreseeable at the time of the initial press release. I don’t consider it a “delay” at all. It is the inevitable, arriving right on schedule.

Thanks for at least providing evidence confirming my words in the final sentence of the quote that you cited.

As has been noted, this is a McAfee thing, not an OOTP thing, and I’ve had it actually delete my directories for DKSports games in the past. It’s pretty annoying and I’m not going to say to turn it off because I would never tell someone that buuuuuuut

It's right behind H2H being implemented in OOTP 6. Any day now

Unless you are using Windows Vista or an earlier version, you don't really need third-party antivirus software because the built-in Defender is better than any of them. Companies like McAfee are exploiting customers who are living in the past. Also, if you are conscious of your web browsing, you wouldn't need any antivirus protection.

Love this reply to the guy that has finger on the nuke button about something being late. My usual Nuke moments are when I actually, accidentally quick sale a card I'd just acquired for 200,000 PP. Yes its happened at least 3 times on my tablet.
I don't know what it is but I'll give it a shot when it arrives. That new feature was not why I bought GO 25

Why do you even care when it releases? Whatever "Drive for the Pennant" is you're going to hate it and post on these forums about how pathetic it is.

As I have already stated, I do NOT even consider it to be late. If you want to take shots at me, that is fine. I wish, however, that you would take the time to actually read what I had written before joining in the inaccurate yet apparently robustly satisfying "panties in a twist" swipes.

Please see my response to another "comment first, read later" critic above, substituting "am interested in this feature" for "do NOT even consider it to be late" from my first post as the pertinent passage. Any subsequent ad hominem editorializing you feel is necessary will be fine. Actually, I suppose there is no need for me to post this, as it seems from your comment that you must already know that I would be writing these words.

Guys, don't forget that when Perfect Team was introduced it was also supposed to debut "three weeks after launch" but it ended up arriving (with much fanfare and ballyhoo) sometime around mid-November.
