Best way to handle transactions

Hello,

Just wanted to hear some thoughts on how best to handle transactions(trades, releases, signings, etc) in an online league.

I am in 2 different leagues, and they do it 2 different ways.

Thanks for the input. Just wanted to make sure there were no major obstacles.

Might be a little easier since the reports will all reside on the same server, so no need to ftp them back and forth.
