Best way to handle transactions
Hello,
Just wanted to hear some thoughts on how best to handle transactions(trades, releases, signings, etc) in an online league. I am in 2 different leagues, and they do it 2 different ways. 1. Do it immediately AFTER a sim, so when you download the new league file, the transactions are done. Upside: No telling the commish how to set your lineup after a transaction. Downside: Transaction may happen 7,10,14, etc games after you really made it. 2. Transaction is done before the sim. Upside: Transaction is effective for the very next sim. Downside: You rely on the commish to make the roster change for you (set your lineup, etc) Are there other ways? |

But it's in the league constitution that any transactions made between sims WILL NOT be reflected until after the next sim. Then again, if someone needs a FA signing or something before the sim in order to keep their lineup official, I do allow them to email me what the want done, and I'll do it for them before the sim. Baseball Maelstrom processes trades before the sim. We allow owners to give us written instructions on where to place their new players so that we can make the change for them. When the league began, we were processing trades after the sims, but we found that most owners didn't want to wait a week to get their traded players. Also, injuries sometimes occured to players involved during the sim which left a bad taste in the mouth of owners who gained players who were already injured and had never played for them yet.
