Being a Astro fan I hate to say it but you probably should drop the 'Stros down by to 5. They just don't have a very big following outside of Houston and even in Houston the Texans and the Cowboys...

Manager Preston Gomez pinch hit for Don Wilson to start the bottom of the eighth when Wilson had no hit Cincinnati till that point. The Astros were down 2-0 at the time.

Same here for the same reason. Playoffs and such, I switch to pitch by pitch mode but for the most part I play one pitch mode.

SB is a problem for the team being managed in one pitch mode. Never had a season with a player I managed better than 50% or right around there.

My suggestion

My suggestion is to improve the gameplay of the player managed game. As it stands right now it is mediocre at best. If you do not change pass ball and wild pitch numbers it is completely unrealistic....
