Simming

Thanks, Kelric.

When you sim one week at a time, do you play a few games manually as opposed to autoplay?

One more deadball question: with 1901 and 1902, do you make many trades? I doubt...

How many games do you sim?

I'm a relative Newbie to OOTP and enjoy playing historical seasons. I'm starting way back in 1903 and plan to move seasons forward through the deadball era.

Here's my question: For those of you...

Draft

You hit the problem on the head, injury log. The message to enable the draft was grayed out, and I didn't see it (I'm in the middle of a season).

I'll uncheck it once the season is over. That...

Rookie Draft

Thanks for the help. I saw those instruction. But I can't figure out what I'm supposd to do to disable the draft. It looks to give a file path in blue. Do I just click on that and it disables it --...

Historical League Newbie Question

I just ordered the game and am playing the 1903 season. As a historical player, I'm loving the game and the level of statistical detail is fantastic.

I do have one question that should be easy to...

Injuries/Fatigue

Thanks, Curtis. I'm told that when playing the deadball era, it might be best to keep injuries set to Low, because they aren't as many players on the reserve or minor league rosters to use. (plus, I...

Newbie Set Up

Hello:

As a followup question from another Newbie attempting a historical league, how do you set injuries and fatigue in a league to gain the most real-life accuracy but not make the game too...

Cheating??

I like your structure, Doug, but wonder if it's too rigid. As one of the posters said, I'll have to try this a few different ways, kick a few tires, float a few trial balloons, and see what works...

Cheating?

Thanks for the sage advice. I think I'll take that and ease back a bit on trades -- I've already fleeced the Cardinals out of Mordecai Brown, and I dont want to get any crazier. Otherwise, sooner or...

Cheating??

Hi everyone:

Here's an interesting question from a Newbie playing his first historical league:

I'm managing the 1903 Detroit Tigers and have already pulled off a few spring trades to better...

Newbie answers

Thanks again. Makes perfect sense.

I just downloaded the Lahman DB and am ready to start playing 1903!! This game looks totally awesome, especially with the level of detail offered for each...

Two keystrokes

Thank you, thank you. Works perfectly now. I just missed it before. Sorry again for the softball question...

One other thing: Is there a way to get around the two keystrokes needed before...

Slow Play by Play

My computer is fairly quick -- it has a large hard drive (I can't remember the amount right now and is only two years ago. Frankly, I can't recall the exact specs but it's farily large (if anyone out...

Slow Game Play?

Hello:

I'm trying out the demo of OOTP and am liking the game with one major exception: it seems like it's slow going to play a game. Even though the PBP is set to fast, I'm finding long delays...

Real Life Lineups

Thanks, Nukester. I understand now. That's actually a very good thing and differentiates the game from the real-life, game-based sims such as DMB, Strat, and Action. This games sounds like a nice...

Historical Seasons

Gotcha. That's very cool and precisely the reason I want to try the game.

I already play ActionBB for a real-life seasonal sim that's good at re-creating actual game conditions, plus transactions...

Real-Life Transactions

Very cool. I'm glad the CPU handles mid-season trades, like Lou Brock to SL in '64 that led to a pennant. I imagine the stats are also adjusted, depending on how the player performs with the new team...

Historical Seasons

Two more Newbie-type questions about the DB and its conversion:

-- Can you set real-life lineups for teams, or is that unwieldy or difficult?

-- Can real-life transactions that take place...

Thank you. After I sent this message, I found the entire thread devoted to historical seasons. That answers many of my questions.

Do you find Lahman's to be a pretty accurate DB? Does the game...

Real-Life Lineups

Forgive my ignorance... I'm considering buying OOTPBB and playing historical leagues, which sound really excellent. I've played DMB and ActionBB but am looking for something with a little more depth....
