Newbie Help -- Blank Scoreboard
Sorry to bother everyone but i didn't get the answer I was looking for in the Newbie or FAQ section, so I thought I'd try you astute gamers out there:
I'm demoing the game and 90 percent certain that I'll buy. But first, I have to get around 1 or 2 annoying problems: -- I get a blank scoreboard on the broadcast screen whenever I sim a game, whether it's managing or just watching. Nothing I do seems to get the scoreboard to work -- it only works right now in the Webcast mode. I have no easy way of even telling how many outs there are in broadcast mode I have a fairly advanced, integrated NIVEA graphics card on my computer, so I don't think that's the problem. Everything else shows up just fine. Any help??? I don't want to buy the game if this mode doesn't really work -- Play by play is a bit slow -- not terrible but I need to hit any key or mouse to continue after every batter. Thus, it takes two keystrokes for a batter to swing. Any suggestions there? The blank scoreboard is the bigger issue, and I'm stuck. I appreciate any help. jprywell |

Two keystrokes
Thank you, thank you. Works perfectly now. I just missed it before. Sorry again for the softball question...
One other thing: Is there a way to get around the two keystrokes needed before recording a play -- In other words, why do I need to push "Hit any key or click mouse to continue every time?" What does that do? Most games only require one stroke, not two. Not a big deal but I wondered what the purpose was??? jprywell |

No "sorry" necessary at all, but you should have checked your thread on the Newbie board first, just to save you some time.
Regarding the two clicks, the first one is for you to set your strategy; even if you are not in control, the game is designed to pause at that point and you still have to press 1 or click to continue. The second click is to clear out the PbP and advance to the next play, or else you might be complaining that it went by too fast for you to read. Even using the At Bat (Space or Enter) shortcut requires two clicks, so I don't think there is a way around it. However, you do have the option to go to one pitch mode and shorten/speed up the PbP to move things along quicker. |

Newbie answers
Thanks again. Makes perfect sense.
I just downloaded the Lahman DB and am ready to start playing 1903!! This game looks totally awesome, especially with the level of detail offered for each player. I haven't played a 1903 game yet but I'm amazed how much info there is about each player -- unbelievable! Looks like I'm a convert. jprywell |
