Ootp please help
i played ootp last year with zero issues. i played this year with zero issues, until the update before the one released yesterday. my game started crashing and saying program not responding as soon as it would open. and all the pop ups were up like it was my first time playing the game. i accidentally fixed this problem by entering the beta code. it fixed the issue. things worked fine, then the update came and its doing the same thing again. ive uninstalled and reinstalled, ive factory reset my laptop, ive tried the beta code, ive removed the beta code. my only source of playing ootp right now, is ootp go on mobile and thats not the ootp experience i love. please help. anything is appreciated

In case it matters, you should say what kind of laptop it was. There were issues with the Legion Pro series, so I'm curious if it is related.

The other thing I can think of is your antivirus software messing around with your save? I'm honestly at a loss here. I've never had this happen to my game, although I've had semi-similar stuff happen with Action PC Basketball and there the issue was that my laptop's antivirus (McAfee - yes, I know, but it came prepackaged on the thing) had quarantined a bunch of files.
If you go into your antivirus there should be a quarantined files section and if you see stuff from your OOTP folder, you should be able to put all that back where it belongs.

I'm now having this same problem, as well, as of Tuesday night. Every time I open the game, it brings up the pop ups as if it were the first time I ever played (starting with the options to enable screen tutorials and show the welcome dialogue upon opening, with the license agreement visible below that). However, the game almost always freezes at that point and I am unable to click on any of the options. A couple of times I have been able to advance as far as entering my perfect team user name and password, but the game has frozen there. I have not been able to fully access the game now for more than 24 hours.

I havent seen a response from a dev regarding this issue. I posted a very similar post and got nothing in return. I've uninstalled, completely wiped all games files from my PC and the issue still persist. was working fine, then one day last week it said it was connecting to servers and I couldnt log in, then the gmae started freezing instantly on launch. cant even attempt to log in, I have to force close the app.

More info guys. PC specs, and anything you can give. Do you have an antivirus? dont just come in and say "Crashing need help" The more info you can give on system specs, type and brand of computer, processor, ram, can not only get the devs more info but even some of us that have zero issues. We may be able to help if you can give more info.

Anyone running into this, if you can enable tracing mode - if you can get the game to start, you can enable that in the troubleshooting tab in settings. If you can't, then in Steam, if you right click on the game and go to the properties, there's a section for launch options, enter in: tracemode
If you are running standalone, you will need to add it to the app.cfg (open up %appdata%, navigate to Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 25\config, and in the app.cfg file open it in a text editor like notepad and there should be a line trace_mode in there, change the line after it from a 0 to a 1) After that if you can send in the ootp_trace_xxx from your data/debug folder (often will be a folder like C:\Users\Matt\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 25\debug), that would help see what is happening. |

One suggestion that might be worth trying would be to navigate to your data/saved_games folder, and rename your TemplateRosters_name.tr folder in there to something else (rename it to TemplateRosters_name.trxxx or something). The next steps after the login are related to loading the cached Roster Builder files from there, so it's possible if those files are moved, the game will skip that initialization step.
If that is causing issues, then we would appreciate if you could zip that entire folder and upload that to our server (similar to other saved games). ***We've seen similar things when you have corrupted data within that template rosters folder. Hi Matt- Once I put it into tracemode and then went to go into the game, it worked fine! I then tried taking it out of tracemode and was still able to access the game. I was able to click through those initial game pop-ups and sign in. Not sure what that did, not being a real computer person, but hopefully that took care of it!
I have only been doing Perfect Team so far in OOTP 25 and haven't opened any other elements of the game this cycle, if that helps figure out what happened, at all. |

Sorry was getting confused between cases. It feels like it should be the same situation, since that's the same part that stalls that impacted others. It looks like it's looking at C:\Users\MaKo\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 25\saved_games for your saved games - was that the spot you verified? Often the saved games directory is separate from the install directory so that a reinstall does not touch the saved games directory at all.

One other thing I've noticed with this year's version is that I have to run the game in administrator mode. I'm not sure if OOTP is now trying to write to files in admin-protected locations that it didn't in the past...
