Who are you betting goes to Diamond/Perfect on LIVE roster update?

My bets to go to Perfect:

Mookie Betts (have 6, pulled 3 of them)
Tim Anderson (have 2, pulled both)
Corbin Burnes (have 1, pulled him - that last start was bad though...)
Josh Hader (have 3, pulled all 3 - least confident in this one)

I'm also holding a couple Gerrit Cole's because his card says he started the season at 100, and he's having a good year.

The only guy I bought was Mookie, all 3 for about 6K

My bets to go to Diamond:

Justin Verlander (have 10)
Joe Musgrove (have 8)
Pablo Lopez (have 5)
J.P. Crawford (have 7)
Kevin Gausman (have 1)

I'm also holding 10 Sandy Alcantra's - seems unlikely he could go all the way to diamond from a 74, but he's having a crazy year. I think I'll just hold his gold, and wait until it goes diamond next time.

Will end up with 100K to 300K depending on how things go. I'm F2P - I'd have 10 of each of them if I had the dough (granted, I spent it on packs instead).

Who are you saving and betting on?

I never have the patience to play the market for the live updates, and when I have tried I have been dead wrong.

I don't know if you're F2P, but it's definitely worth trying - Last year, I was able to complete all the Negro League missions and get Jackie and a totally stacked team pretty early on because I made over 400K PP on an update when it went my way (I had 10 of 2 different diamonds that went perfect, among some other hits).

You can definitely miss, and they have weird updates (i.e. last year with Ohtani) - but that's why it's safer to keep track of who is playing well and just save all of their cards when you pull them (and resist the quick-sell). It pays off big time.

Also, hold onto cards until the next month if they don't hit - you can always sell right before the update if they tank. So for this one, if any of Verlander/Lopez/Musgrove don't go diamond, I'll hold onto them until the next update. Same with Mookie and Hader.

Made 200k. Had a few that I wasn't expecting to go, some Rafael Iglesias and couple Emmanual Clase's. The Gold's were a bust for me, Diamonds a hit.

Made over 100k betting on these for the first time. While there were some misses (Musgrove isn’t a Diamond?, Gilbert isn’t Gold?) simply hitting on a few is well worth it.

The process itself is pretty straight forward. A few weeks leading up, I didn’t sell any guys I could see improving enough to get bumped up to Gold, Diamond, or Perfect. Personally, I didn’t chase any Diamonds, just didn’t sell any I got. Some hit: Yordan, Goldy, and Fried. Others did nothing: Buxton, Cole, and Burnes. I then attacked the Gold and Silvers. McClanahan I felt was a safe bet (at worst, he’d remain in Gold). Alcantara, Vlad, Verlander we’re others I bet on. Most didn’t have the mission bump, and we’re safe bets to not lose any value if I had to resell. Silvers we’re fairly successful: Ward and Skubal both got bumped to Gold. The risk is so minimal, as you’re paying so little to acquire them. Gilbert and Musgrove were the only two I really missed on, and I can easily resell them for close to what I bought them for.

Definitely worth doing. No way to accurately predict the upgrades, though, LOL. They make no actual sense. It's almost like they just randomly bring people up and down. Tony Gonslin is 10-0 with 1.6 ERA and over 3 WAR and he is still a 77

Some are a bit head scratching but I think by and large they are doing a fine job (that's quite the praise coming from me this season as I haven't had much positive to say about anything). I struck on my 4 Yordy's and 3 Goldy's , then got lucky on having a Fried I didn't even realize I had and Minter that I hadn't realized I had.

I had a LOT of bronzes go to silver as well.

They clearly overvalue certain stats like FIP in comparison to others.

If a player keeps performing, generally they are just forced to bring them up. They are not going to be like, "CY Young winner, 77 Overall, Tony Gonslin!" Even if his BAPIP and clutch stats remain incredibly high.

I remember when Shohei was leading the league in WAR 3 months into his MVP season, destroying everything, and he was like a 73 on Perfect Team And that was two updates in, with their justification being his strikeout (as a hitter) and walk (as a pitcher) rates. Then the following two months, with the same strikeout and walk rates, he goes to 90 and then 100.

I just hold onto all the guys who don't go that I thought were going to. Wait until next month and see what their stats are at.

Don’t forget to look backwards to the last 365 days. How they did in August and September last year will be factored into the August live update.

From what Matt (developer) said on another post, it looks like stats just don't play a big part in how they rate pitchers outside of FIP. So focus on FIP only for the updates. I knew FIP was important, if I realized how important, I would have had 10 Gausman's, LOL.

I've closed this thread as it has turned into a spam magnet. Probably due to the word betting in the title.
