We Have To Pay For A Patch???

is this what we can expect now that the OOTP name brand merged with SI Games last year? Paying for a patch is not my idea of a good thing after spending $35 orginally for this game. Allthough its nice to have this patch announced, its a HUGE disappointment that it has to be bought

1. It ain't a patch - a patch contains bug fixes. This one includes a bunch of features.

2. $9.99 for a x.5 update is soooo reasonable...

Expecting a free patch that adds signficant functionality well over a year after the game has been released is asking for a lot don't you think? This is fairly low-cost and adds new features.

The other thing to remember is that it's not like your OOTP 6.12 will shut down and stop working if you don't buy this. You can enjoy the game exactly the way it is now.

you don't have to pay for anything...

The ootp staff spend hours of time building this game and running this website -

They have to be compensated so they can eat and pay rent and buy cigarettes and beer

Other more money hungry game developers would have called this version 7 and charged $30 for it.

How can someone enjoy 6.12 when you know that 6.5 is out there, walking around the Internet...

Bottom line is if you aren't happy then don't buy it. OOTP7 is still coming out (although later than some expected). Keep saving your pennies until then while the rest of us enjoy ver 6.5.

It's not like we were all waiting for this "patch" only to find out at the last minute it has to be paid for. It came completely out of the blue and was a surprise for all of us.

Too many #@&! complainers around here.

I could see people complaining if OOTP6.12 was unplayable. Yesterday, no one was expecting a 6.5. No one was asking for 6.5. Now thye're complaining because something they never heard of before and never even expected, isn't going to be free. Just pretend that you never read the 6.5 announcement.

Your right. But what we did hear was 'There will be no patches to version 6, as we are dedicating all the time to version 7. '

My guess is that they didn't want to have to contend with 1,000 posts asking what was going to be in the expansion, and how much would it cost, and when would it be released, and would it be compatible with earlier versions, and would it be compatible with version 7, and will it have H2H, and will it please allow for trading of draft picks, and how about making the AI a bit better, and don't forget about my suggestion or his because his was really good too and if it's not in this expansion I think I'm going to scream, until they knew pretty much what would be in the expansion, how much they were going to charge, and an approximate time of release.

That's just a guess.
