This and the silver slugger award is something I hope they add in the future.

Here's another vote for Gold Gloves, AND Silver Slugger for that matter!

I vote for at least Gold Glove awards in the game, considering that the game does tally up fielding percentage & errors. Silver Slugger award would be nice too.

would be nice to have gold gloves. however, the way the defense is to be rated is quite debatable and pretty much opinable (fielding, assists, range, double plays, etc.), so i'm envisioning some heat starting the moment the game incorporates them.

Gold gloves would be a nice touch.

I'd suggest having it based 50% on fielding stats and 50% on ratings. Maybe even 25% stats and 75% ratings.

Why do it that way? Because gold gloves are usually based on reputation as much as performance, and this approach would incorporate that to some degree.

Mapleleafs is right, they are based heavily on reputation. I still would like them in their though.

I manually go into each Gold Glove winners history and edit the achievement...the winners are selected from the HTML utility that I believe Iatric created (nice job by the way!)

His report creates a file that lists Gold Glove ratings (although I don't know the exact formula he uses). And thanks to a nice piece of advice someone else provided, while in the Gold Glove html report, the players file id is provided for easy editing convenience.

Thanks.... The main calculation is to state total chances in terms of innings played. I used a formula similar to an ERA calculation:

Total Chances * 9 / Defensive Innings

That gives me a range for each player. I then sort by position and then range (except for catchers which for lack of a better option was sorted by Stolen Bases given up per game played).

I could choose to sort either by range or percentage and I chose range. Its up to the league/commish to decide how much weight to give the range vs the percentage. Like Scott mentioned, we have a 3 man committee in Boys of Summer that does that. They use the Gold Glove html page as the basis of their info, but it is up to each of the members of the committee to decide how much weight to give, then the three tally their votes together and name a winner from each league.

In my league, I give out Silver Sluggers and Gold Gloves myself, and it is VERY EASY to do.
