Should have been, could of been league

I am starting a new solo league by importing players in that should have been and could of been better then what they turned out. For example I am importing Rick Ankiel after his rookie season, what would have happened if he never went through his wild streak. I am not sure how many teams I am going to use yet but if you guys can think of any players that did not live up to their potential like they should of , I would love to add them. I think I will also add in some of my favorite players from 1970-2005 to give the league enough players.

Mostly Mets, since that's what I know best:

Gregg Jefferies
Luis Medina
Bill Pulsipher/Paul Wilson/Jason Isringhausen (yes, I know, but he was supposed to be better)
David West
Jerome Walton
Dave Nied
Kevin Maas

You would have a case for including Dwight Gooden and Darryl Strawberry.

I was going to put both Gooden and Strawberry, of course being a Cards fan back in the 80's I hated them but man could they both play.

Steve Blass is the first name that springs to mind. Not that he didn't fulfill his potential, just that he achieved it and then whatever 'it' is disappeared almost overnight.

How about the 2 recent "phenom" busts? Brien Taylor (Yankees) and Ryan "Little Unit" Anderson (Mariners)?

Dagrims listed a good one in Bo Jackson.

Nick Bierbrodt, and Generation K - Bill Pulsipher, Paul Wilson, and Jason Isringhausen (though he's had a pretty successful run as a reliever)

Oh yeah. That poor guy broke/tore/strained just about every muscle and ligament there is in the human shoulder.

Not as a bust, but as someone who did not match the long-term expectations and projections. 5th overall pick, top 10 in MVP voting three times by age 28, then basically done.

I know the Orioles would consider him a bust. Schilling, Harnisch and Finley for him is one of the worst trades of all-time.

Looking back, yeah, you're right. For some reason, I thought he started about seven years before he did. I started following baseball for real around 1987-88, and I thought he had been around for a while at that point. Nope.
