What does changing the League Totals actually do? When I first opened my game here were the settings: AB-109205, H-26464, 2B-4082, 3B-792, HR-2299, BB-9665, HBP-751, K-19413.
The root of my question is if I want to play a game that should be realistic for 1927, than should I reset these League Totals to real historical 1927 numbers? If so, should I make sure that there are only 16 teams in the League as there were back then? Does the number of teams in the League even matter? I'm trying to figure out the relationship of the numbers. If I raise the Home Run League Total, will that decrease Home Run likelihood beacause my players have a lower % of the leaguewide Home Runs? Or does it work the other way? Increasing Home Runs in the League Totals will increase Home Runs in my league? Obviously the same will work for 2B, 3B, etc. I will be playing many games between different Era teams. I will be usuing the Era of the HOME team. If you know - please help a brother out. I just played a game between the '87 Twins at '27 Yankees. The Twins won 9-5 behing a solid performance from Frank Viola and timely hitting of the Star of the Game: Steve Lombardozzi who was 3-5 with two 2RBI singles. Earle Combs and Lou Gehrig had nice games, but the Babe was 0-5 with a K. He must not have taken the Twins seriously and had a couple before the game. |

A utility that can be nice if you have some numbers you are trying to target is the ERA Calculator by IatricSB. We use it with our league and have been with in a couple of percentage points of the right stats for the first 5 years of the league. You can get it under the Files tab at: http://www.boys-of-summer.com |

Thanks for the reply. So I'm going to assume that how you set the League Totals is going to also depend on how many teams you have in your league. If I keep the HR Total the same for a 16-team league and a 40-team league are there going to be the same amount of Home Runs for the season, just split over 40 teams? OR will there be 2.5 times as many Home Runs because there are 2.5 times as many teams?

Its using the ratio of the numbers and adjusting based on the ratio, not the actual number. For example, if in your era settings you put 10,000 ABs and 2,500 Hits, its no different than putting 100,000 ABs and 25,000 Hits. Hope this makes sense.
