Importing players into a new league

I had been running a solo league for at least 20 seasons, and when I upgraded to version 6.12 there was a bug that set the # of rounds in the amateur draft to ~30,000 and the game created enough players to accomodate this. This made my players.dat file rather large, and now the league runs extremely slow.

My first thought was to run the next amateur draft with 5 rounds, so that the thousands of undrafted players would be released to the free agency pool. I deleted all the free agents at that point, but the players.dat file did not get any smaller. So I'm assuming it keeps a log of all the players ever created.

The league still runs too slow to actually be playable. My question is:

Is there a way to export the teams and players on those teams (and only the players on those teams), and then import them into a new league?

I tried just exporting and importing the CSV files, but this shuts the program down each time I've tried.

Does one of Pierre's utilities do this? I know there is a Team Importer, but does that allow importation of the players on the teams?

Any suggestions would be great. (And I do have a backup, but it's from a very early season, so I'm using that as a last option.)

Thanks.

Pierre's Team Importer is what you need.

The importer will do the trick. That draft rounds bug is really annoying ive been stuck with that a couple times. I never have been able to figure out what causes it. Let this be your lesson in backing up your league, you should never move on to the next year without having backed up first. Im suprised you made it so many seasons without a problem before.

Can someone help me with Pierre's Team Importer? If someone could walk me through the program, that would be great. I've tried I few different things, and the program seems to take a long time, so it's wearing on my patience.

Does the TARGET league need to be a completely empty league with no teams or players? Or does it need teams and no players? Or does it need teams and players?

One of the times I tried to use it, I used a league that had the same # of teams, but no players as the TARGET. After I selected the target league, it took about 6 hours for the program to allow me to do anything. I dragged one of the teams from the old league to the target league, and selected a team to over-write. Now when I did this, there were no players in that center box. Is this normal? After I over-wrote the team in the target league, the program would not let me do anything else except exit. I would get an error if I clicked the update button. So, can you only update one team at a team?

Am i using this program completely incorrectly? Is there a tutorial or manual or something that Pierre puts out?

Any help would be great. Thanks.
