Spot Starter %

Just wondering what exactly that % means. I'm assuming it is the % of games he will appear in, but not sure -

IE : Strict order, 4 pitcher rotation, Spot Starter = 20% .... Each pitcher will pitch every 5th game
or
Strict order, 5 man rotation, Spot Starter =10% ... Starting 5 go every 5 games, with the spot starter coming out once every 10 games.

Is that right ?

I think it is how often the spot starter will pitcher for the last pitcher in the order.

So, if you use a 5 man order on strict rotation (with no injuries and the same settings for a 162 game season) and have the spot starter at 33%, starts 1-4 get all their regular starts and starter #5 gets 67% of his starts, while the spot starter gets 33% of the #5 starter's starts (e.g., # of starts = 33, 33, 32, 32, 21, 11).

I ran a couple seasons in my 8 team test league just to be sure, and Josh does have it exactly right. IE, if the spot starter % is 100% the 5th starter doesn't pitch at all.

As an aside, I set mine to 0% unless I really have one too many starting pitcher prospects and can't figure out either who is the best of the bunch or I just don't have any place to put the other guy. I pretty much want my best five going all the time.

That basically allows you to choose the starter if someone gets hurt during a sim right?

Yep - it will default to the spot guy.
