Looking to Start a League

I have been reading a lot of posts and talking to some other forums members. Im a relatively newcomer to OOTP, but I've been enthralled with it and wanted to know if anyone else in a similiar situation (newbie rejected by a lot of leagues) wouldn't mind starting one up to get your feet wet. A league that could be used like a 'farm system' to the serious high-active leagues.

Please reply here with comments, suggestions, requests or requirements. Other League commishs are invited to sound off a little; maybe we could work on turning out some good team owners for them?

why would leagues reject you? were they full? do you come with baggage?

i find that strange considering the need for GM's around here.

I've been rejected twice because I've never done an OOTP online league before. I figure maybe if I come up with a solution, I can participate. I'd rather do this than do nothing, and single-player leagues are all well and good, but not challenging enough for me.

You can join BAB if you like!

I havent found there to be a pattern with anyone new to the game. Ive had many turn out to be great owners. Email me if you are interested in the league described below.

BAB-1906 Historical League has 2 openings
1906 Historical League has 2 openings
BAB is in its 6th season and is a very statistically accurate sim for OOTP. I tweak the league totals every season to get results that are close the leages totals for that year without messing with individual players ratings so you can still have individual surprises but you wont have the steroid era in the deadball era.

The two teams now open are the Philly A's in the AL and the New York Giants in the NL. Both teams have had a tough time since BAB started and need good GM's to build winning traditions for them.

THe league sims once/ day , 4 days at a time.
Increases in stadium capacity by purchasing seats.
Hall of Fame voting by all owners.
$85 million cap
All teams started out with the same market sizes and fan loyalty.

We pride ourselves on having a great set of owners so only those serious apply. I try to keep the league as stable as possible and I am only in 2 leagues myself because of my dedication to this league. If you are interested in taking on some serious OOTP'ers, send me an email at robskib@optonline.net

I looked into BAB, but I'm not interested in doing a historical league. I'd rather do all-fictional.

Yeah, don't give up.

I'm relatively new to online leagues too, but have managed to get into 4 leagues all within the last month.

Unfortunately, one is folding and it's down to 3 so I might try for another one.

Starting your own online league is not the answer. Running an online league is very time consuming and not an easy thing to do. Just keep looking around because there are plenty of leagues that will accept players with no previous experience. Also even if you don't want to do a historical league but one will accept you, then you should consider joining anyway so you can "get your feet wet" as you mentioned above. Plus a historcial league is just a fictional league with some names you might know!

In the USBA I have added a couple new team owners over the years who were brand new to online leagues and I would do so again! I enjoy having a good mix of online league vets and newer people who may have fresh ideas and enthusiasm. If a commissioner has no inclination to help tutor a person new to online leagues I'd rather they just reject them up front rather than let them join, flounder under poor leadership, and then become soured on online leagues.

sometimes it takes a new OOTP online league player to point out the obvious things that can improve the league.

The good news is that I got accepted by the ABA today And I really appreciate everyone responding with their suggestions and comments. They were all very helpful.
