Fantasy Trade, Yes or No.
I say no, but...
Him L. Castillo and C. Carpenter for Me J. Kent and D. Willis What do you think? Comments from Him: I'll give you these for ur people. kent has a better rank than castillo, but carpenter makes up for it 117 to willis 185 and carpenter should get more wins being with the cardinals. I know this should be a poll, I'm too lazy however .Last edited by Davey Eckstein; 04-11-2005 at 08:39 PM. |

I wouldn't do it. Kent is hitting well over .500 fo the year. I wouldn't trade away a .500 hitter.

As much as I hate to say it, Carp is not looking sharp at all this season. Besides that, if you were to accurately rate him in OOTP, he wouldn't be "Injury Prone," he'd be "Injury Very Probably."
I wouldn't make the trade. |

It depends on your scoring system. There are few guys in the game today who put up the SB totals of Castillo. He could end up being more valuable than Kent in a fantasy sense. Kent has virtually nothing going for him - he's at the age where performance tends to decline precipitously & injuries occur more frequently, his numbers weren't all that strong last year, and he's moved into the worst hitter's park in the league.
As for Carpenter, I'm not sure how Amazien came to his conclusion, as Carpenter has started only 2 games this season - he got shelled yesterday, but was flat out dominant on Opening Day. If your league weights SB equally with other stats, I would do the deal, as I think Castillo could be worth more than Kent and Carpenter could be worth much more than Willis. Edit - It looks like Castillo's SB numbers have been down significantly the past 2 seasons - I'm not sure if he's been nursing an injury or what. This would make me less likely to consider the deal, but he's still a 0.300 hitter who will score 100 runs and steal 20+ bases. I would think that it would be easier to replace Kent's numbers than those from Castillo - there are currently 35 players on NL rosters right now that hit more than 25 HR last year, and only 14 that stole 20+ bases. With the way Willis is pitching, I hope you took everyone's advice.

Yes, it seems like a fantasy trade. I don't see the Marlins trading both Castillo and Willis in the same season. But you never know.
