Used up all your capitals on that first sentence, eh?

From what I understand the pitches that a pitcher knows has no bearing on the game. Pitch selection is just eye candy. With that said, I doubt any owners would spend resources (cash, spring training points, kettle corn, etc.) on something with no possible benefit.

Actually, the idea is not a bad one at all. Could be added to Spring Training pretty easily, I think.

However, the idea presentation above is a bit poor. Entire sentences in all caps is always, always a bad idea.

(always always? yeah, always always!)

I think the smilies indicate the poster's emotional progression while working on his message.

While we're thinking of new topics... Maybe it would be possible to let the pitches thrown have an effect, maybe the batter v. pitcher matchups could go deeper. For example, rate pitchers not only in the current way, but by pitch. Randy Johnson's fastball, Kerry Wood's curve, Kevin Brown's power sinker/slider. All amazing pitches, almost unhittable when they're going. And some pitcher's have turned around and had amazing years when they learned a new pitch (most notably Roger Craig and the splitfinger fastball - most guys could hold up about two years before it blew up their arm, but what an amazing two years it was...)

And then some batters can't hit good curves, or mid 90s cheese. But some can. Some hitters hit mistakes, some hit fastballs, some don't hit anything of quality, some guess and hit pretty much the same against everyone. This could be interesting, but it could be a whole new rating system, so I'll say no more on it.

But here's a problem I do have- coaching and the draft. I'd like to have my scouts scout and my coaches coach like the Oakland A's for example. I'd like to draft the same way. I want power and patience with my hitters (lots of walks, so high On Base Percentage, power so lots of doubles and HRs.) But I can't even sort the draft list by On Base Percentage, On Base Plus Slugging (OPS), secondary average. I also can't sort pitchers by stuff - K/IP K/BB, or secondary ERA.

I do this too once in a while, especially if a starter has nothing but fastball and a curveball. A starter with only 2 pitches?
