2005 Dodgers Thread

Being that there are actually Dodgers fans on this board, as opposed to the one that is actually on BBSC, maybe I can talk about the team with people this year (the horror!).

To catch up: Dodgers take opening series from Giants; Jose Valentin on pace for 378 at bats, 162 errors.

I sent my father my MLBTV account info so he can check out the team (hope they don't get wise to our scam). He hasn't watched the Dodgers since he moved from LA in the late 90s. He has no idea who Eric Gagne is.

Jeff Weaver sure looked like his old Tiger self last night. Hoping he can keep that up this year.

That's just what we need with all the uncertainty around our rotation. He was our workhorse last year and was great down the stretch. We need him to be our ace until Penny's future becomes apparent and last night he pitched like it.

I'm a die-hard Dodger fan, and since I go to Berkeley, I went to the game last night.

Loved it. Me and the 5 other Dodger fans in the left field bleachers would stand up and cheer Kent every time, and 50,000 others booed. Nothing quite like that, especially in the 9th when it was 4-0 Dodgers.

Giant fan is stupid and drunk though. They attacked my friend, I got hit on the head with a beer bottle, and arrests were made. Stupid Giant Fan.

Nice thread. It'll be nice to have a special place of our own where we can all hate the Giants together.

I went to the second ever game at Pac Bell Park since I was living in SF at the time. I cheered very loudly when Kevin Elster came up and had quite a few things hurled at me.

Not that Dodger fans aren't just drunken violent vatos but I love when Giant fans act so above all that.

Note to Dodger fans: Jose Valentin will make errors. The media will say he's bad defensively. Do not fall for the lies!

He probably has the best range of any 3B in baseball (which would make sense, since he was the best SS in years past). He's not better than a Rolen or Chavez, but he'll get to as many balls as them. He might throw a few into the third row though.

I'll be at the AZ-LA game tonight. I have to admit the Dodgers have been pretty impressive to this point.

Woot! Go Blue! I'm really excited for this season. The Dodgers have looked good so far. The bullpen should get a big boost when Gagne gets back, it's kind of scary that he's not there just in case even when they've got a big lead. I'm far more optimistic about this team then I was about last years at the start of the season.

I wouldn't say far more. I think we're more solid if people stay healthy. But I'm concerned about Penny and I'm concerned about Drew and I'm concerned about Erickson's Spring being a total fluke.

Just watching this team, yeah, it's a nice little team, but I really really miss Cora and Beltre. And Loduca. Why did Depo ever make that damn trade? Why??

Bah.

Yeah, I went to Opening Day in Seattle. Adrian in a Mariners uniform. It was horrible.

hooray for the good guys..a thread for the blue.. yahoo!!!

glad to see them take two of three from the hated ones. i cringe a little when the ball is hit to 3b or 2b..not like last year, that was a great def infield. oh well. kent seems to impress some with the glove esp last nite. i did not see the game but the highlights. hope "game over" comes back soon brazo look like an arson out there.

cheers

Kent did make a great play, and I was cheering. I have to admit though, that the play of the night was by Omar Vizquel. I didn't see it on any of the highlight shows, but on a chopper back up the middle, he actually barehanded the ball and just got the runner at first. Overran the ball and bare-handed it. Best play I think I've ever seen in person.

Glad to see some more Dodgers fans here now. For a couple years it was just lukster and myself and then Karros came along. Now we've actually got some numbers!

4 wins in a row for the Boys in Blue and they are assured of winning their first two series of the year before returning to LA for their first home stand. I'll be there on Tuesday. Anyone else?

I picked Drew as my MLB "Beat the Streak" player for tomorrow. As long as Tracy doesn't sit him, he's gotta break out of this.

I was at the Clippers/San Antonio game tonight at Staples watching the scoreboard ticker for the Dodgers game. With the ball game going into extra innings and the basketball game going double-overtime, it was a race to see who would finish first!

I wish I could be there...I live in Berkeley. This summer I'll hopefully be living in DC, so I'll be at some Dodgers-Nationals games to be sure.

Great win tonight. Yhency...what a stud. From the moment I saw him last year I though "ahh...so that's why DePodesta traded Mota. We have another one!"
