The Lost Ballparks - Where Have They Gone?

-This thread is a request for any photos, weblinks or other info anyone may have on Major League ballparks from 1901 on. I'm more interested in the older ones, say, before the 70's or so, that we don't have pictures of already. I'd love to have more photos for some of the lesser publicized parks, such as Columbia Park which was used by the Philadelphia Athletics. What did these parks look like when viewed from behind the pitcher's mound? Wouldn't you love to know, and isn't is sad that there is so little information left about them? I've always wondered if there are any hidden gems out there, photos of parks that not everyone has access to.

So that's what this thread is dedicated to, the lost ballparks of the past. I'm sure we've all seen the popular websites such as ballparks.com, and, if you want to provide links to those, please do so. But what I'd also like to see are links and photos that maybe not everyone has already seen. I realize this thread may be asking for something that doesn't exist. But then again, maybe it does.

I will get this thread started properly by listing every Major League stadium from 1901 to present. If you have information about the stadiums, I urge you to post it here.

MAJOR LEAGUE BALLPARKS

1. Oriole Park (Baltimore) 1901-1902
2. Huntington Avenue Grounds (Boston) 1901-1908
3. Hilltop Park (New York) 1903-1912
4. South Side Park (Chicago) 1901-1910
5. League Park (Cleveland) 1891-1946
6. Bennett Park (Detroit) 1896-1911
7. Lloyd Street Grounds (Milwaukee) 1901
8. Sportsman's Park (St. Louis) 1902-1966
9. Columbia Park (Philadelphia) 1901- 1908
10. Shibe Park (Philadelphia) 1909-1970

(OK, I ran out of time, but I'll edit and finish the list later. For now I'll post what I have.)

OK, I found some incredible ballpark pics. Here's the first one, Exposition Park (August 5th, 1905)

http://lcweb2.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/...psbib,pan,detr

The second one is called "Raising of the Pennant" and was developed May 20th, 1907. This leads me to believe it is a pic of the Chicago Cubs stadium?

http://lcweb2.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/...psbib,pan,detr

Next, is a picture of Shibe Park, Philadelphia. This is from 1910.

Now this is an absolutely beautiful and perfect picture of American League Park, New York, from 1910:

Another great shot of American League Park, from the other side:

Here's Cleveland Stadium under construction, 1931:

Cubs Park, 1929:

Bennett Park, 1907:

This one's perfect for in-game use, West Side Park, Chicago, 1908:

Another one with potential for use in the game, Polo Grounds, NY, 1910:

Polo Grounds III, 1905 (final game of world series):

West Side Park II (Chicago), fifth game of World Series, 1906:

South Side Park, Chicago Whitesox, 1906 (final game of World Series):

Another West Side Park shot from behind the plate, this one from the 1909 Series:

Here's a much better shot of Bennett Park, 1909:

South Side Park, Chicago, from behind the plate (almost):

American League Park, Washington DC, 1905:

Not a stadium, but an awesome group shot of the 1913 Philadelphia Athletics:

They were earlier today. Now they're not. Possibly the Library of Congress is having server issues?

That's annoying, they aren't working for me anymore either. I'll have to figure out what's going on with it when I get a chance. They really are great photos.

OK, the reason the weblinks don't work is because the Library of Congress creates temporary links to the files, possibly good for 24 hours. I imagine that's so people don't create permanent links to them. Anyway, you can still access the photos I found and more, by going here: http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/

Then, do a search for: panoramic baseball. You can try other combinations as well to get other baseball pics, but that search should provide you with working links to the ballpark pics. It's well worth your time if you haven't seen these photos before.
