in most league, Pitching will win you alot of games. But in one league i am in DSB.. Offense is what is winning games and is what won me the world series in 2004. It all depends on the file i would say. Just make sure you have good players

I find that winning in OOTP can be done fairly easily.............

FIRST OFF----You have to realize your maximum payroll and work around that........

2ND. Get 8-9 hitters(Pending DH or not) who have solid discipline(relative to other straters throughout the league----GOAL==LEAD THE LEAGUE IN TEAM WALKS).................Also, scope your team to have guys who make descent contacT(Think in a 30 team league, u want to be in the top 12 in avg)...............AND have around 3 guys who u can count on for 25+ hr.................This productino is surpsisingly relatively easy to come by if u plan out your team right.

3RD.Get 5 SOLID pitchers who u can count on.........Look throughout the league and spot the average of ratings amongst aces & #2 pitchers...........After relating the productivity of pitchers relative to their rating you then must construct your 5 man staff to be able to project a final ERA that owuld put you as one of the top 5 pitching staffs in the league........

4TH. Get 2 solid setup men and a closer.........Be able to project these guys to be purely dominant but DO NOT OVERPAID FOR ANY ESPECIALLY FOR CLOSER IN A TRADE..........This is very important to fill these roles as your team could be ruined without them but at the same time it's better to be patienet than overpay.........

THESE BASICALLY "RULES" HAVE BEEN CLEAR TO ME THAT WHEN EXERCISED EFFECTIVELY, YOUR TEAM WILL BE DOMINANT.

Don't overlook your bullpen. Bullpen arms are a key in OOTP.

Anyway, my general "want list," in order, is as follows:

-An ace starting pitcher and a second good starter. As a rule of thumb, depending on your league depth, that means a 4-5 star for the ace and a 3.5-4 star for the 2nd starter.

-2 good all-around hitters. 70 contact/95 power/95 eye in the modern era for instance.

-Quality leadoff man and #2 hitter.

-Average or above-average #3 starting pitcher

-Closer and two quality bullpen arms

-4 solid role-players to round out the lineup (or 5 if you use DH)

-Prospects

-4th and 5th starters

-Infield utility man

-Backup catcher

-4th OF

-The rest of the bullpen

-Pinch hitter/Pinch runner

In an online league, the key is to find the person in it who isn't very bright and take all his good players.
