Im pretty sure that is for the other teams to see who you might be interested in trading. I have never seen a computer controlled team propose a trade for anyone in my trading block.

Just because a player is listed in the trading block it does not limit teams to making offers for only those players. Plus, if they don't like/want those players in the trading blcok or need them then they won't make an offer for them.

Trading block is for online leagues mainly. If your playing solo its pretty much useless.

I would disagree, I have traded a number of players that I have placed "on the block". It has been a helpful tool for me.

I play single player and was wondering two things about this. 1) Does the computer use this feature? 2) if it does is there a report to see all of the teams picks for this?
Thanks William |

1. Yes, it does.
2. You can see it in the "News log".

Trading block definitely gets the attention of the CPU managers, especially a few days before the trading deadline. However, this is only true if the players you're putting there have some value - don't waste your time listing your bums.

Yep, I'll take a decent player that's expendable, and throw him on there around the 25th of July, and I'll have 2 or 3 offers on him within a day or two.
I had to use this more after enacting my house rule that limits my trading to CPU initiated offers. [ 05-18-2002, 02:12 PM: Message edited by: BleacherBum ]

Well, I had Scott Rolen get upset and shortly thereafter his steal ability went from a B to a C. Not sure if it was directly related but I immediately removed most of the players that I had on the block just in case.

If you list 'em for just the week or so before the trading deadline, and then pull them back, you'll rarely have anyone get miffed.

One thing that bugs me is when the cpu puts someone on the block, then I make an offer and they swear up and down that they won't trade him. And with exclamation points, as if to add "how could you be so stupid as to think we would part with this player?"
I did get a good young pitcher from a team for failed my drive to the pennant one year from trolling the transaction report. Got him for a couple of minor league scrubs. The first time I have ever gotten one over on the cpu in trading. It's usually a rat bastard about trading good pitchers for prospects.
