What to do about Allegations?
I'm in one league (the CUBL) where I've been repeatedly accused of cheating by one of the owners.
Last year, our Commish couldn't be around, and asked me to run some of the sims over two seasons or so. So, he taught me how to do it, and I did. Now one of the owners is complaining that I cheated during that time. Since I didn't do it, there isn't any evidence. Apparently his "evidence" is the following: One of my players had a talent drop. Then, a month or so later, he had a talent increase. Therefore, I must have cheated and increased his talent. He just won't shut up about it and takes every opportunity to say something about it on the messageboard, even when the thread has nothing to do with me. Allegations of cheating are about as defamatory as you can be in the OOTP world or in the real world. I'm trying to let the commish handle it, but this guy won't stop. Any suggestions? |

that's ridiculous. if you need, oh, say a whole BLOC of people to ambush this league and vouch for your credibility while simultaneously driving this guy to tears and quitting the league then just say the word and I'll get mats right on it.

I don't have any idea how to "un-prove" something like that.
However, I was just thinking that it would be the greatest stroke of genius in the history of the OOTP boards if this storyline took us to the point where it was revealed that jblaze, the cheater of many aliases, and drprestwood, his elite law student antagonist, were actually revealed to be the SAME PERSON! Seriously, that would be the coolest thing ever....

Thanks, Andy.
![]() DAED, the Commish issued a blanket statement indicating that this kind of childish back and forth (including my initial reactions to the accusations) wouldn't be tolerated. I think he's currently evaluating the situation. The assistant commish just closed the most recent thread. Eck, I agree...that would make me happy. I had actually wondered if the owner in question was either JBlaze or Jestre. That would explain a lot, given our histories. It would be a lot easier to dismiss if it didn't seem to be a random guy with a grudge. Anyway, my problem is that I don't know what to do. I'll put up with a lot, but accusations of cheating are a lot more serious. Not only are they attacks on me personally, but I don't want them to affect my reputation in the league or out of it. I'm a plain dealer who takes these kinds of things very seriously. I've already asked the other owner to provide evidence or leave the league...which hasn't happened, of course, since there's no evidence. I don't know what else to do. |

I didn't want to say anything, but those White Sox look pretty suspicious.

I've always found that saying "f*** off and get a life" works pretty well.

This is precisely why we have a "history". I Commish the longest running OOTP historical league in existence and I have only ever accused one owner of cheating, and he admitted it in an email to me. Your accusation in this post is a prime example of why I have had you on ignore for months and only removed you from that status because of the nature of this thread to see what malicious and flagrantly unfounded accusation you were tossing my way this time. After this post I will put you back on ignore and then report this to the mods. I will not have my reputation as a commish impugned by a tool like you.

Holy Crap, Jestre. Way to fly off of the handle. I didn't say it was you...but I said it would be funny if it was you. That's NOT an accusation.
You're a funny little dude. |

so, I see that Kurtis is no longer running the CUBL, and also that no one has been able to bring Calgary into respectability.
at any rate, the only thing to do is to let this guy have a chance to say his peace - give him a thread or whatever in the forum and let him present his case. And then, once he's done doing that, if he's still going to do this stuff, give him the boot.

drprestwood, why not take the Mark McGwire approach. I mean, why talk about things in the past?
Oh wait, that's right. Becuase you, unlike him, have nothing to hide... |

The commish should step in and tell the guy to STFU or get out. Its not right to allow one GM take away some of the enjoyment of others. Players lose and regain talents and ratings often. I've even seen it happen in the exact same sim. (Someone posted about an occurance of it happening in the same sim just this week.)

I've seen this happen a lot. A player loses talent, then gains it back during the offseason.
