What does Pyt.Rec mean

What does Pyt.Rec mean in the HTML standings report?

It's a calculation based on your runs scored / runs allowed ratio.

Pythagorean record- the expected record based on runs scored and allowed.

The simple formula for predicted winning percentage is:

Runs Scored * Runs Scored
-----------------------------------------------------------
(Runs Scored * Runs Scored) + (Runs Allowed * Runs Allowed)

The more accurate formula is Rs^1.83/( Rs^1.83)*(RA^1.83)

A more advanced version would trend that exponent upwords depending on a higher run scoring environment.

Even money says Markus is using the simple one...

For my season just ended, my PYT.REc was 7 games better then my actual record. What does that actually say? Should I have done something different or was it just a bad luck year?

This means only that the Games thought you should have 7 wins more, it dont say anything about your Skills as GM or Manager you can win 117 Games and your pyt.rec says 124 makes that your Season Record bad or you a loser i guess not.

In the end it means nothing ask your Peers in the league how you have done.

It could say that you are losing a lot of close games. Maybe you need to improve your bullpen? But it's never a sure thing, there are so many factors.

Or that you have a team full of slackers who coast when they can

This is also where McCracken's theories can come into play. Sometimes you lose just because the ball bounces the wrong way.

It means that you lost games you shouldn't have. This could be the effect of bullpen or lack of depth, like treedom suggested, but a lot of it is likely just bad luck, like Kurt suggested. In other words, I have nothing to add here. +1.

Yup. Talk to Pythagorus... now that man knew his baseball.
