Problems with Pitching Staff

Hey,

I am in an online league (http://bwpl.ootp-online.com/ootp/team10.html) as the Twins.

I set Vizcaino as my number 1 setup guy, but he was not used at all. I ran a bunch of exhibition sims and even when i was protecting a lead coming into the 7th, 8th, 9th, he was never used. Any ideas?

Todd Jones is my number 2 setup guy and he was used. my middle relief was used, but never my no. 1 setup guy.

Bit early to be worrying about it after only three games, don't you think? If this persists after a couple of weeks, get back to us.

the thing is is that i ran a bunch of exhibition games (100 or so) and not once was Vizcaino used. Otherwise, I wouldn't be asking yet.

Still too early to tell anything I'd say. One online league I'm in has my #1 setup guy appear is 93 games, 105 innings another was used in 118 games and still another has been used in 44 games and it is June. These are all guys in the #1 setup slot and have been in that position for most if not all of the season.

I think OOTP tries to spare the best Reliever if possible. I have a Closer in a Players League and that Player is without a doubt the best Guys in the Pen. In the last Sim (7 Days) he doesn't make one pitch.
So maybe its the same with Luis for you.

well this is not to early to tell anything i documented the ******ed way 6.11 is using relievers months ago. Basically there is not logic behind it and the way things stand now there is almost no reason to even bother putting someone in the various bullpen roles because the games AI (all though I find it silly to refer to it as "intelligence") seems more to care about what inning a game is in to put in players rather than the score of the game or the situation. Setup men get to many saves because the game never takes them out in the 9th inning for the closer like its supposed to (regardless of fatigue.. this has nothign to do with fatigue.. zero). The only time the closer comes in is if the setup man becomes fatigued during the game or is fatiqued from all the obsurd innings he has worked. As for setup #2 you might as well get used to him getting like 15innings of work unless your pitching staff totally sucks. The only way I have found to get him a decent amount of work is to put him in with the middle relievers as well as setup2.
