I realize I may have made this point before, but I would appreciate input on it. MR are ridiculously over valued; for example, I tried as a test to see who the Giants would accept for Felix Rodriguez(free agent to be)...they turned down roy oswalt, rated as the second best starter in the game. For testing purposes, Ive tried this in many of my games, and the valuation scheme is pretty much the same. This has happened with a lot of good middle relievers, who are not available for good position players or solid starters. I think that a little tweaking as to the AI evaluation of them needs to happen.
thanks, Aadik

Are these with Rolen's rosters?
Try to make the same trade with the default rosters that are included with OOTP, just determine who those players are with their fictional names. This is something I've heard, but haven't had a chance to see put in practice with the default rosters. Thanks, Glen

I've got a historical league, and the funny thing is in my league MRs are ridiculously *under*valued, especially at the prospect stage. I've had to make house rules about trading because of how easy it is to draft and develop young MRs, then trade 3-4 of them for a star player. I think this is the kind of issue that is impossible to deal with- making an AI that performs perfectly in historical, fictional, and Rolen leagues is just not going to happen.

I, too, thought it was accurate when I needd a lefty MR recently; I ended up dealing Paul Abbott for Doug Creek and a "near" blue chip lefty a-ball pitcher. I thought that was a pretty fair deal for both teams.
could be that the Giants just don't wanna give up Rodriguez; should Nen retire, he's their closer. EVen if he doesnt, they're a lot better with him than without. Does this problem exist w/ you for relievers across the league? [ March 17, 2002: Message edited by: Helli ]</p> |

Or maybe on the Giants "needs" list, it listed relievers, but not starters. So they weren't willing to trade a reliever for another starter..Maybe?

Or maybe it was a money issue.

I've gotta agree with Chris, it's probably a needs issue. i've found several trades that should go through that don't because of needs. Madden 2000 folks may remeber that you could trade the Cleveland Browns a 38 rated tight end for Jamir Miller, Marc Edwards, and their 1st rounder because they "needed" a tight end...
