OOTP Logo Contest Week 6 - Jacksonville Commodores
Here we go with another week.
I actually received 16 logos this week, but one of our artists that submitted multiple logos gave me permission to use one as an alternate so that we could fit in the poll limitations. Here are the logos:

What does this look like? Would anyone have voted for it? Doesn't look too good after saving as a .bmp.

Nice logo LC.
i'd like to see what it looks like in the standard size, but i'm sure i would've voted for that one. |

I could try to re-size it but I think it looks like crap. I just don't have the tools to edit images. All I have is NetStudio, Microsoft Image Composer, and Paint. All three are limited in what they can do and none offer what something like PS Pro would offer.

littlechris it looks good, but as your finding out when you size the logos to actually work in the game they lose much of the detail and are hard to make look good.

very true nmleague. If I could use graphics that wouldn't lose quality upon re-sizing (vector graphics, I think) then it would look better.

I would have loved to see someone work an otter into this one, perhaps wearing a sailor's cap.

littlechris, you have an excellent design...excellent colors...excellent font...really like the blue/navy blue stars...and the wheel over the baseball...very nice touch (would prefer the wheel navy blue color instead of black)...but as you said it will not show up well in the game.
That's a shame...I would like to see it done so that it would...you did very well. Last edited by Eugene Church; 02-23-2005 at 06:33 PM. |

Thanks for the kind words, I could do better with superior tools than what I'm using, but I guess it's OK for my first one.

Another week of fine logos...congrats to all designers...all of you did well.
#1 excellently done...very unique design...looks like a painting...is that a brown boat beneath "Commodores"?...nice touch if it is...theme gives a sense of life in Jacksonville...very nice colors...font is fine and it will show up well in OOTPB. #2 very well done and designed...Fine colors and fonts...Jacksonville and baseball club may not show up well in the game...should have been larger imo. #3 very unique and simple design...beautiful colors...especially like the "J" and the "C"...would have liked Jacksonville and Commodores on it...but still like it very much. #4 Excellent design and lettering...very nice anchor...needs brighter colors on lettering and anchor for better contrast...wished you had used navy blue and yellow gold for colors...would catch your eye better...overall very well done. #5 excellent fonts, lettering, colors and contrast...wish the cap on the "C" looked more like a cap...only shortcoming imo. #6 very beautiful ship, sky and water...designer is very talented...very nice drawing...lettering and drawing a little blurry...could be more distinct and clear...images need to be sharper...Jacksonville lettering not clear and distinct and too small for OOTPB. #7 like the crossed baseball bats and the gold background...nice red, black and gold colors...lettering is not clear and distinct...and figure reminds me of a pirate, more so than a commodore. #8 very simple and very well done...lettering is excellent...very fine font and colors...nice yellow textured background for the star...will show up very well in OOTPB. #10 excellent in almost everything...fine navy blue and gold colors...very nice image of officer...wish he had made the image larger and placed in the center of the design...wish the designer had used more space...he left too much white area...perhaps he could have made the yellow frame/border wider...or maybe added a wide navy blue stripe next to a wider yellow to help fill out the white space...Jacksonville could have been larger to show up better in OOTPB...some of the bland white area could have been used for city name. #11 excellent work and design...wheel, anchor, and baseball are excellent...excellent fonts and lettering size...this logo will show up quite well in OOTPB...wish he had used navy blue for background and yellow gold for lettering...this is a very fine logo. #12 excellent design, fonts and lettering...excellent gold leaf cluster and naval symbol...like the idea of the "baseballs" for "o's", but they probably will not show up well in OOTPB...wish the lettering had better contrasting colors...maybe white for "Commodores" and navy blue for "Jacksonville"...this is very well done. #13 excellent design, colors and font...like star on the diamond...looks like an officer's braid on his sleeve...this one will show up well in OOTPB. #14 Excellent in all respects...love the sailing boat, colors, fonts and design...like the blue circle and the unique navy blue corners...this logo reminds me of the water, sea, sailing and atmosphere of Jacksonville...this is the logo I would use in my league. #15 very well done...fine colors (but would have preferred navy blue and yellow gold), fonts and design...like the way he placed the "C" around the baseball and included a "J"...nice officer braid, too...for the upper part of the "J". |

3,10,11 and 14. I normally only vote for 1 or 2, but I was a bit blown away by some of these.

It looks very nice resized, Littlechris, it's just that you need something like Photoshop to get the clarity required. Try Irfanview as well, it's free and resizes items well. |

I decided to take a couple minutes to make the item fit the 150 by 150 canvas. I'm not the best with proportions, but I think this is a really nice logo, littlechris, and is really great for a first attempt. It would have at least got my vote.
