Ring Magazine issues

Does anyone have any issues from the 1989-90 time frame? I have an editorial published in an issue during that time, and like a moron... lost my magazine collection. My article was somewhere between Dec 89' and May 90'. If anyone has the magazines and the time... look for an article in the beginning of the magazine (in the fan letter section) by Tim Greene from Ephrata, WA. If you have it, I would be extremely grateful if you could get ahold of me, and maybe we could come up with someway to scan the issue and send it to me. I would be willing to do just about anything in return (with the exception of sexual favors). Thanks guys. I would even pay a high price for the issue itself if anyone was willing to sell it.

P.S. The issue was around the time that Douglas beat Tyson. In fact I think it was the first issue AFTER the Ring officially ranked Douglas #1 in their rankings. I was only 12 at the time... so don't poke too much fun at me about the article... my knowledge of the sport wasn't what it is today. However, they still must have liked it in order to publish it.

He Badguy,
I've found the issue. It's the December 1990 issue, the article is about Overrating Buster Douglas. You were right on the spot.

I don't have a scanner in my possesion. I will look around if somebody I know has one.
Do you need just the article, then I can copy the pages and send them to you?
Regards, Wanderer

You're the man wanderer!!!!! Thank you so much! I didn't think I would ever get ahold of that issue again. You have made my day. Anything I can do to repay you, let me know. Do you need or want a membership into Boxing Torrents? Just let me know. I will be gone for the next week or so and wont have access to a computer. If you are able to scan the magazine, go ahead and email it to me at: thebadguy1978@hotmail.com .

December 1990? That seems strange. I wrote the article after Douglas beat Tyson and BEFORE Holyfield beat Douglas, which was in October. I wonder why it would be in the December issue? Anyway... no matter, Im just very grateful that you took the time to look into it and get back to me. We'll figure out someway to get er done.

I know that the issue date of the magazines was two months of or something.
But it is after the Tyson vs Douglas and before Douglas vs Holyfield.

I will look around if someone has a scanner, otherwise we will find something out.
I'm already a member of THE Excellent Boxing Torrent site. ( Just downloaded Alexis Arguello vs Cornelius BozaEdwards)

In case necessary, do you have a scanner?

No, I dont have a scanner. But that may change pretty soon. If possible, I would definitely like the whole magazine if you're willing. But if not, just the article would be fine.

My problem is that in my area, Ring Magazine is VERY hard to find. Boxing isn't as popular as it was even 10 years ago... so alot of stores dont carry any boxing mags. Besides scanning the magazine and sending me the scanned pages... we also have two other options....

1. If you're willing to sell it, I would buy it from you at a higher than normal price, or...

2. I could send you the money (cash, check, money order, whatever) and you could go to the "Back Issues" section and order the December 1990 issue for me. That would be the ideal way to do this. Again, if you're willing to take the time to do that.

Anyway, this will be my last post for awhile. I have to go out of town for 10 days and I wont be anywhere near a computer. Please don't forget me... Im begging you! If you would, send me a private message with your email address and when I get back, we can discuss how we want to do this. I think ordering the back issue would be the best option, unless you dont have any problem parting with yours... which would surprise me. I dont know you at all, but I would be willing to trust you as a lover of the "sweet science" and send you the money. I would also take care of any shipping charges as well.

Once again, thank you so much for helping a "badguy" out. I am very excited about this and I cant begin to tell you how grateful I am that you took the time and found the issue with my article in it. My faith in humanity is restored again!!!!! LOL.

I have about 600 boxing magazines and I hope to enlarge my collection the coming years, so I hope you understand that I can't sell.

But I will give my emailaddress through private mail and we WILL work it out, one way or another.
I started following boxing myself when I was about 12 years old, after the '84 olympics. I started collecting magazines in 1986, but like you say Boxing Mags are hard to get, also in Holland. I have one shop in Amsterdam where you can buy them.

But about one year ago I found out about Ebay, you can get magazines througout the last century. I recently received magazines from way back in '52. Great to read.

I will look into ways to get it to you. We will speak soon.
