Just wondering about user experiences in the following situation.
eLicensed OOTP4. Unrecoverable crash 2 days later led to reformatting HD w/out a chance to unlicense. No problem, I didn't anticipate using the game on any other comps, so I reinstall & use license #2. Less than 12 hours later, same unrecoverable crash & now I'm facing another reformat. And being down to one usable license left, with no idea whether I've suffered two random events or if there's another fatal crash in my immediate future. I've gathered that the number of licenses remaining can be adjusted by ViaTech in cases like this, but I haven't read much about how difficult/easy that is to accomplish for the user. Do I just email them & explain the details? Are they understanding about these cases or difficult to convince? Or ??? Just lookin' for some idea of what to expect, Jon |

Jon,
I think that a simple phone call is all that it has taken most folks to recover the licenses.

I speak from experience. I called Viatech and the lady on the phone went 'above and beyond' her duty and had me up and running within 5 mins.

I sent them an email since my problem happened after office hours and first thing in the morning I got a response saying all 3 licenses had been activated.

FWIW,
I posted this and then the board went haywire before I could see the replies. With my heart in my throat with nervousness, I called 'em. As I posted elsewhere (trying to give credit where its due) they answered on the 2nd ring, took only 2-3 minutes to have a promise of restoring my licenses. I came away both pleased & impressed with ViaTech's handling of customer service. Jon |

Jon:
They are indeed surprisingly good. I got a new computer and went to migrate the game, and the elicense would not uninstall no matter what I or anyone else did. I called their tech support and there was no problem at all taking care of things - they were even friendly! If you remember back in the day, I was dead set against starting to use elicenses because of the unknowns and the risk. Well, elicenses have proven to be simple, effective, and easy to use and maintain and the Viatech people have proven to be easy to work with. This was one innovation that worked well. Good to see that you are still playing the game.
