* I swapped the 1925 Pirates and 1905 White Sox leagues so that teams that were virtually the same(1902 & 1905 White Sox) wouldn't be in the same league. Starting in round 2, I will stop worrying about such things, because it may become harder and harder.

The records are the teams actual historical records. The league is the league that the team will be placed in within the tourney league.

A league preview will be forthcoming. I will present each teams key players, so that the people following can put some names and faces with the teams involved.

But ill be rooting for the '59 Giants.

My predictions:
Top team: 1923 Giants, they are loaded on offense and have enough pitching to dominate most days.

Biggest Surprise to make the next round: #29 Seed 1968 Reds, Led by Rose, Bench, and Co, this team just may crack the top 16.

Biggest Upset: #6 Seed 1905 White Sox. They have plenty in the way of pitching, but will they score enough runs to compete? I say no.

Batting Champ: Honus Wagner('04 Pirates)

HR Champ: Frank Robinson('62 Reds) just edging out Hank Greenberg

Most Wins: Three Finger Brown('06 Cubs) He could very easily rack up 30-35 wins if the Cubs can score.

There are gonna be a ton of interesting races and matchups in this league. The HR race is loaded....Mantle, Aaron, Mays, Greenberg, Frank Robinson and many more. Which catcher will have the best season? Bench, Piazza, IROD, and Berra are in this league and each had a good season in real life. Babe Ruth will be vying for the most dominant pitcher in this league. I also can't wait to see how some of the stud pitchers match up: Gibson vs Plank, Three Finger vs Carlton.

Tune in tomorrow..........

I'm rooting for the '56 Braves.

And something tells me there will be a lot of Yankees teams in the final rounds, say the last 32.

Best Records: 1956 Braves(51-30), 1925 Pirates(50-31), 1933 Pirates(50-31), 2000 Mets(47-34)

Biggest Surprise Team thus far: #30 Seed 1910 Phillies(41-40)

HR Leader: Mickey Mantle('58 NYY) 17

BA Leader: Alex Johnson('68 Reds) .371

Wins Leader: Bert Blyleven('76 Twins) 14

The strongest Yankees team in this pool is putting up a very weak effort, right now they are just out of the mix for going into the next round. And of all the arms in this league, who thought Bert Blyleven would be top of the heap through the first half?

The 1958 Yankees got back into the mix with a great month. Looks like unless they fall apart, both of these teams should make the next round. But the real surprise of the Group has to be the dominance of the two Pirates teams thus far. One of the top teams in history, 1908 Cubs, is in serious danger of not making round #2.

There are 3 Reds' teams in this group and all 3 are out of the next round if things were to end today. For two of these clubs('20 and '68) this was expected, but the '62 Reds were expected to challenge for a division title, but so far have only mananged a record of 68-70.
