How did you first get into OOTP?

I have seen various posts over the months by people saying that they got into OOTP via Baseball Mogul. I persoanlly got into OOTP when High Heat started sucking. I realised the part I enjoyed most about HH was the front office aspect. When HH didn't come out with a new game, I googled for other options, and eventually found this site. Best decision I ever made trying OOTP5.

I think it was the Season Ticket Baseball version of OOTP 3 that got me hooked, but I don't remember. I do think it was 3 though. After that, I bought them from Markus and Co., instead of the outsource. Makes me sad to wonder if I'm going to be buying the next installment though.

Like many, I was a Mogul player who was looking for other options. I found OOTP2. I didn't really get hooked fully until OOTP4, though.

I was poking around at the local mall when I stumbled upon Season Ticket Baseball in the bargain bin. Picked it up cheap, graduated to OOTP and have been hooked ever since.

I bought V1 only to stop a friend from pestering me daily about a baseball game this German guy had developed. I believe that I purchased it from Lahman's website, but can't remember correctly if this was even possible. It was a peculiar DOS game, but way too odd. Didn't like it much.

Version 2 was a rather good game who sported one of the clumsiest interfaces ever created, but marked the start of OOTP's current impressive core of online leagues. One-click creation and all that jazz.

Version 3 was kinda a regression in many ways, but improved interface, partnership with STB and some sort of marketing prompted the emergence of lots of new customers, thus allowing Markus to quit his daily job (male stripper in the Reeperbahn in Hamburg) and focus on OOTP.

Version 4 improved greatly from previous versions and Version 5 was an even better game.

Version 6 was expected to be top-notch but is somewhat disappointing in many aspects. Admittedly some stuff is handled better than in V5, but nevertheless. Much of it, I presume, was due to SI entering the show and limiting V6 developing (and, no less important, supporting) time. Lets hope it's for the best.

I got in through the back door.

I actually don't really know where my desire for baseball simulations came from. I think I saw something on ESPN about how they had simulated a baseball season to determine some results, so I thought that was a pretty cool idea so I started searching around for programs that would do that. I first found baseball mogul and bought that, but it only lasted for about two months until I found OOTP, and I've been hooked ever since v4 first came out.

I saw Season Ticket Baseball at Officemax. It looked interesting but I didn't buy it. I did a search on the internet hoping to find some reviews for it and that lead me to OOTP. Found out the newest version of STB was just made available at Walmart went right out and bought it and loved it. Later bout OOTP5 and just a few days ago upgraded to version 6.

Great Game !

I started with ootp3. I remember being big into High Heat. I used to go to baseballsimcentral to get my high heat add-ons and such and I happened to be browsing the site and stumbled upon OOTP. I really haven't played any other baseball game since

I'd been playing FPS Baseball Pro since the '94 version (Joey Cora hit .366 with 24 homers one year for me!), and I had been searching around for a more up-to-date item. I picked up a copy of STB at my local library, and was hooked. Found out it was OOTP, and then I jumped right in - and I've never regretted it.

I got into OOTP because I was very very much into online leagues. Bought TP99 and was playing online one day when I learned about online leagues. Then HH came out and I found a good HH league to join. Shortly after that one of the owners in that league was starting a new league and was undecided on whether to use HH or OOTP2. I hadn't heard of OOTP but he showed me the web site. I took a look at the screenshots and read about the features and immediately made a purchase. I haven't looked back since. I still have HH04 which I play the odd time when I want to actually hit, pitch, and field, but I'm hooked on OOTP. There's nothing better imho for online leagues.

I was looking around for a replacement for FPS/Sierra Baseball too and all the offerings in the shops were too arcadey for me. Then one day I was browsing through the sports game section at Home of the Underdogs and saw a link to OOTP3, I downloaded the demo and a couple of hours later bought the game.

Would you believe that I read about it on the PureSim board?

I was into card games like APBA and Replay. It is possible to play those game by yourself and manage both teams but I had trouble being impartial. I still play those games and I am in a league in the Replay baseball game but I googled for other options, a way I could play realistic baseball in a league format and found OOTP. I have been hooked ever since and now I am in 2 online leagues and I run a solo league. In addition, I am trying to start my own league as a comish. I can't wait for 7 to come out because I think that since OOTP6 is great, 7 is going to be off the charts.

I have purchased computer baseball games since 1982. Loved Earl Weaver, PTP and all the old games. I found OOTP 2 by accident, went to JOhn Skilton's links and found it listed. I also played a lot of APBA Baseball for Windows and came up with hits for OOTP when I was doing a search for utilities for the game. I quit playing OOTP for a while but have purchased both OOTP5 and OOTP6.

I'm also a former High Heater. I was always aware of OOTP but I never really checked it out until High Heat died.

Through STB as well. I picked up v3, liked it, but didn't play it much...then I got v4 and through becoming a regular here and joining some online leagues I was hooked long term.

My friends around here think I'm weird because I always want to sim my games and do more playing from the management point of view. I used to play the High Heat series, and FPS on the PC and almost every baseball game for the Genesis back in the day but nothing could ever keep me hooked.

I seen Season Ticket Baseball (OOTP 3) at I believe Wal-Mart in the bargain bin one day and it looked interesting. I've been hooked since. I bought the next version of Season Ticket Baseball (OOTP 4) as soon as Wal-Mart had it and that is the one I have played the most. OOTP 4 and I were never apart, lol. I bought OOTP 5 and OOTP 6 when they first came out also. I like 6 the most but work cuts into my time nowadays so I don't get to play as much as I like.

I like the series so much that I even started my first webpage ever (OOTP Download Center) so we can easily find everything we need. I'll be buying OOTP 7 at first glance as well but I sure hope SI doesn't kill off the community here.

My story is pretty funny. I was a Baseball Mogul player and got an email advertising OOTP's new version. Not remembering seeing anything about a game called OOTP when i was looking for new basebal sims, I thought it was Baseball Mogul's new version and I decided to buy and download it. You should have seen my face the first time I booted it up and it was completely different and I didn't have a manual to know what the hell I was doing. I didn't start playing until about 2 months later when I was unemployed and had more than enough time to kill. I've been hooked on it like heroine since.

I started out with the baseball mogul series, but after a year or two of it, i wanted a game more indepth with minor leagues, more stats, and more control over front office moves. I did a search and came across OOTP and started with version 4 and have been hooked on OOTP ever since.

In all honesty I my first serious baseball game was Tony La Russa baseball, I would play that game for hours and hours until one day where the game kept crashing so I dumped it and spent a few years playing baseball on the consoul systems before getting into baseball mogul.
